Grind battles so that your 2 immortals learn the skill that prevents paralysis and then put the bracelet on Jansen. The battle is pretty easy if you don't have to deal with the RNG.

Check out the Lost Odyssey board. There is a sticky there for the first two bosses, which are easily the most difficult in the game.

95% of boss battles in Lost Odyssey are won by figuring out which game ending statis effect the boss throws out, making your team immune to it, then steamrolling over the boss easily.

In your case, it's paralysis. Make Kaim, and the woman immune through skill learning, then give Jansen the immunity ring. Bam, fight turned easy.
