I stopped reading at about 100, came back around 175 because they got a new writer who was way better and kept reading until about 250 when it had the soft reset.

Mega Man ended a while ago. No official reason exists but the speculation is either that Capcom wanted to end it so a new series associated with the new cartoon could launch with minimal brand confusion, or Archie's financial issues led to its end, or both

Regardless of which was the truth I have little faith that a new series will actually launch with the cartoon, at least not with Archie.

They were just starting up the story of MM4, got two or three issues in. They did know what their last issue was gonna be so they made it a big tribute to the franchise as a nice send off.

Looking into it I stopped around episode 60, starting from #1.

That's when the covers listed here stop looking familiar. 56 is the last one I remember reading for sure. Think I got that as a single and my subscription stopped a bit before that though in the 40s. I remember getting annoyed about the stupid skunk character being such a featured part of the comic. Dude was annoying.

The last one published was part three of a four-part story, so...

I stopped reading I think after #50, which seemed an appropriate climax to everything going on at that point. Knowna guy who had every issue for many many years, though I don't know if he kept up on that lately. I'll have to ask about that.

Why does Sonic still appeal to kids? It would make sense if people in their late twenties and early thirties still cared because Sonic was good back in the 90s, but kids born well after he fell to complete garbage still like him.

Ken Penders made some original characters for the Archie Sonics comic, which by Archie's deal with Sega meant Sega owned everything. Then Ken left and wanted to start his own comic with the characters, which Archie said he couldn't do. Somehow Ken ended up suing Archie. He should have lost, but it turned out that Ken's original contract had been lost in an unrelated fire, so the judge basically threw out the copy Archie produced. Ken ended up being able to use his characters, and as I recall has been trying to get Knuckles into his legally usable character list as well, and Sega was upset with Archie for allowing this guy to cause so much trouble.

That's what was explained to me.

Basically he sued Archie saying the original characters he created were his property and they settled.

Unfortunately it meant like half the cast was quickly written off and it created such a mess they tried a soft reboot before ultimately this happened.

Ken Penders is also a major jackass that screwed the creator of the SatAM Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon out of the chance to approach Sega with a movie idea that would've tied up all of the loose ends that the cliffhanger series finale had.

He constantly shit talks everyone he worked with, slandered people who passed away and could no longer defend themselves, and actually gloated when the Archie Sonic Comic got cancelled just now, then said that he still had a few more stakes to drive into some hearts.

Not to mention he's pretentious as fuck, trying to make things political commentary when they're honestly not.

He's a terrible person and one of the few people I'd legitimately punch in the face if there was no one to hold me back.
