his fanbase is mad that he barely does game angry reviews anymore. he claims he just wants to do "stuff he enjoys" which is movie reviews and trailer reactions these days. fanbase didn't like that and now he's throwing a hissy fit and wants to quit for a bit. most of his original fanbase (and most of his popularity) hinges on his angry reviews, not his "e-celeb" persona. i think he knows that but has just run out of steam. if he doesn't know that he is clueless and doomed to fail. i am part of the crowd that liked his old reviews and am not a fan of his new stuff he makes.

Yeah, I may have enjoyed his stuff a few years back, but then you realize all his reviews are 40 mins and bloated with cringy skits. On top of that, he started spoiling games in the reviews, so I just stopped watching him.

I enjoy his reviews but it's true he doesn't do them nearly as often as he used to. I get his job can be very stressful and taxing and I'm not super attached to his videos so it ain't a big deal to me. Having your fans yell at you constantly sure isn't fun either

He usually repeats himself during a 30 min review, he comes of biased sometimes, he cuts of his friends who does reviews with him (and their opinions and critiques are usually terrible) and the list goes on. I just stopped watching his movie reviews.

Reminds of what happened to Spoony. He goes from creating well crafted videos to pointless rambling or talking over playing a video game. They got fans from their scripted videos, not streaming.

It is amazing how youtube personalities don't realize that youtube is basically a customer service job, sometimes you have to kiss the customer's ass.

He built his fanbase on doing video game reviews, he seems to be unable to comprehend why they don't give a shit about his failed movie reviews or other nonsense and just want video games.

Yeah... been wondering about that too. Seems to be reviewing games way too little these days. I don't personally care at all about his movie reviews, previews or any of that crap. And I kinda doubt, I'm the only one. Watched few, back when this trend with him was starting. But they were... uninspired, to be honest.

Back in the day, I used to love watching his game reviews. Because, even when the game was total shite. The review usually was fun to watch. Like... say "Rambo the video game" review. Probably only good thing that ever came bacause of that game, was Joe's review on it :).

But yea, he should get back to reviewing games, it's what he build his "business" on... and ditch movie reviews entirely. Noone wants to see him rambling, with his 2-3 hobos, about some latest Superman or whatever the f***. Okay... FEW do :).

Basically, his show is dead. He's not done a review since June 6th, and isn't doing one again until September. He's also already said he feels like he should just stop now because of the reaction.

Let's say I made a few videos of me following around my cat or something stupid like that. Just because I had nothing better to do. Not because it's my passion or anything. Now let's say they become such a hit that I can now make a living off them over YouTube. Well holy shit! Why the hell would I not keep making them to give people what they want if it's making me a living? Because it's not my passion? Well fuck that noise. I could care less. Cleaning classrooms and taking care of brats ain't my passion either but I do it because that's how I make a living.
Sitting around editing snarky videos about me complaining about games. I wish I had it that easy.

Neither.

It's entirely fine for Angry Joe to take a break after nearly a decade of consistent work. He puts relatively significant effort into each game review he provides, but he's tired, and he'd rather just not upload those reviews for a while than upload lazy versions of them. When YouTubers burn out they either rest for a bit, or they become shells of their former selves and churn out low quality content for cheap cash; Joe is making the more respectable decision, and that's fine.

But at the same time, by the point he announced his vacation he had already not been uploading the core content of his channel for weeks, and he's been frequently uploading simpler content not related to gaming. It's happened many times on YouTube where a channel focused on one subject completely switches to another subject, and naturally that can alienate much of the original fanbase. It's understandable for the fans to fear a genre switch. Like how it's fine for Joe to work his own schedule, it's fine for his fans to voice their viewing preferences.

I agree with all this.

The biggest problem with his movie reviews is they aren't scripted. Essentially it's three dudes sitting around talking about a movie for half an hour. The conversation is too disorganized and neither Joe or his friends are very insightful into film critiquing. It's just not interesting to watch.

If Joe wants to piss away his fan base that's on him. I'll only ever watch for game reviews in the future myself.

Yeah that's the wrong way for him to handle it. Most complaining fans likely aren't disappointed by him not being just an Angry Review channel, they're disappointed by him not uploading any Angry Game Reviews for almost two months so far (which means, by the end of his vacation, it'll have been no Angry Game Reviews for about four months).

And honestly a channel of his size could get away with just ignoring these people. But Angry Joe isn't really capable of that so now he's at war with his fans.

The problem here though is that Joe is probably rich at this point and he's going to keep making money off the stuff he's already uploaded as well as the bare minimum effort stuff he's uploading now anyway. Since the standard he wants his Angry Game Reviews to be at requires creative writing, filming skits, and indepth analysis of games he might not particularly care about it's understandable why he may just not feel like it for a while. There's literally nothing forcing him to push on at this stage.

His reviews were actually fairly good, honest reviews that almost always touched on the problems real gamers had with games, as well as the positives, even in games that weren't omg amazing.
