annnddd hemmet ended up mattering in my very first game. aw yeah. hunter vs hunter match. he actually took the lead early on by getting me down to low health but I had a massive card advantage. then I played hemmet to even further drive home this advantage as he was relying on topdecks and I was relying on my larger hand + always good 4 mana or better draws.

3rd game - played paladin, he had lay on hands. I did not win. got close though.
4th game - mage. drew the nuts. killed him on turn 4. feels so good.
5th game - rogue. I drew well, still ended up being a close game. topdecked direwolf alpha for exact lethal at the end.

MVPs of this deck so far have been zoobot and gladiator longbow. I've somehow gotten zoobot value every single match. I have a ton of beasts and even two murlocs as well, which has helped.

6th game - shaman in arena? okay then. I just realized giant wasp and scavenging hyena have synergy. never would have used giant wasp in constructed so it's cool to consciously become aware of stuff like this! drew a perfect 1-2-3-4-5-6 curve! I was already dominating the board but when frozen crusher came down he conceded.

also which one of you is slightly kewb? I think you were just spectating me

fun fact: Blizzard Stats informed me that I had an 86% win rate against mage as Paladin last month.

7th game - paladin. my dreaded foe.



he did not fare so well

8th game - mage. feeling wary about this one. at such high wins he's likely to have tons of answers and I don't have that much reload. turn 1 flame elemental. turn 2 flame geyser. turn 3 flame geyser and fire elemental. welp. I've already lost the board on turn 3. game over.

final result 6-3, not too bad. I'm a pretty below average arena player so this is better than I normally do.

got an un'goro pack + 130 gold. niiice.

Just got 8 Arena wins as a Hunter by just picking every 1 cost and 2 cost cards I came across (along with two infests).

I mean I got really lucky by playing against a lot of other Hunters and only 1 Mage but still.

I crafted the stuff I don't have for freeze mage (I had all the legendaries already), with some subs that I just wanted to try out, I'm only rank 19 but so far it seems pretty good. Like I mentioned before I know it'll never be top tier since no valets but it's still pretty fun to play. I don't know if I've ever played a deck with so much draw power.

Yeah, I got an email explaining it. It's to make up for errors with the frequency of legendary and epic cards in packs recently. It said I received one fewer than I should have, so I get this dust as compensation.

This wasn't the ten pack legendaries, it was from a bug with the pity timer a little further back. Some people apparently had their timer reset, so they didn't get a legendary in 40 packs like they're supposed to.

drafted a god awful mage deck (no flamestrike, no meteor, no fireball, basically no direct damage or removal except a volcanic potion. no real good late or early game minions. just pure trash), but I did finally get to experience some of the hilariously bad players in arena right now. this deck has no business winning any games but I already won two off of my opponents just straight up making huge misplays. also had one guy concede on like turn 2...????

I've definitely faced multiple decks with multiple legendaries each in my runs since coming back to the game. It's always kinda odd to me. Haven't been offered a legendary yet in about 5 or 6 drafts.

and thus ends another mediocre 3-3 arena for me. seems like every time I face mage they have every card imaginable, but every time I draft mage my deck is absolute dumpster tier. I'm just going to start playing other classes that I like more. at least then when I do terrible I'll at least have fun with it.

small simple size since this is the first time I've ever gone up against multiple bad players in a row, but around 6 PM EST I guess? sometime after all the casuals are home from work and school.

Value and cardgen wins in arena, not legendaries. I've had games where I've beaten someone having multiple legendaries, as well as runs where I had multiple legends and crapped out.

A few days ago I had a Priest go Deathwing, then immediately top decked Medivh, Cairne, and N'Zoth in that order and I still completely rolled him.

yeah in this last game I was actually shocked to see that I was down to 13 cards and my opponent still had 15 in his deck, but his hand was TWICE the size of mine due to card gen. it's no understatement to say that card generation is one of the biggest things that can help you win games in arena. not only did I have the pressure of fatigue on my back the entire time, but he had more resources at his disposal. my extra draw didn't even get me card advantage because of how absurdly powerful card generation can be in this game.

although I had no hope of winning anyway. shortly after this he Free From Amber'd into Ysera, pretty much the ultimate lategame card. my trash tier deck was not prepared to deal with that.

this is still true but I find it to be relatively less true than it was previously. at least when I played arena more in the past, winning the early game often meant you just won the game no questions asked. now while this is still often the case it's just less often. because of the spell occurrence bonus, I guess, and in general more comeback and defensive mechanisms. although granted it seems like only mage, paladin, and priest really benefit from this.

when I was drafting I felt like I made a couple sub-optimal choices just to synergize with Steward of Darkshire, but welp. At least it definitely went off once lol

he had a mistress of mixtures (1 mana 2/2) from turn 2 on and once he buffed it to like a 4/10 I put blessing of wisdom on it and he just let it sit there for like 5 turns and I kept hitting him with tar creeper.

aww yeah got to close out game 4 with Steward + Stand against Darkness. And just to add insult to injury, after I passed the turn he top decked a swipe which only removed the shields lol.

by the way I was just thinking about this for some reason and thought it might be worth bringing up if you didn't know. the introduction of the karazhan adventure is free, and you get a few cards for playing it. you can also purchase individual wings of adventures in hearthstone and you can pay gold rather than real money to unlock it.

I can't check how much it costs, since I already own the adventure, but if you just unlock "The Spire," you should be able to obtain Medivh's Valet from beating the first boss in that wing.

The Spire also has Medivh, the Guardian, which is seeing a ton of play in Freeze Mage lately simply because it combos with Firelands Portal/Blizzard/Pyroblast incredibly well (700 gold per wing)

The Prologue has Raven/Firelands which are both great

On the bright side, that loss was sandwiched between two opponents conceding before I could even mullugan. It's like blizzard knows.
