Aaaaand it's over already.

Wow, without spoiling anything, that... was a half-season. I'm a little disappointed.

Still, what I watched was pretty good.

........But I was expecting twice as much content.

Watched three episodes, I'll watch the rest on Friday. I really like what they're doing with the show, so it's a shame this is only half a season. X_X

Season 2 kicks S1 up and down the street, it's seriously great. But I thought S1 was pretty good.

I tried watching the show when it first came out. Very pretty, but... I guess the tone just wasn't for me, sadly. I can't remember if I made it through the pilot. I didn't grow up with it (or kids shows in general) so I guess I'm always gonna have a harder time with these things. It can be frustrating. I'm glad you're enjoying it, though!

I watched a bit of the original growing up but I don't have any strong memories of the original show, actually.

I recently tried rewatching it between Season 1 and 2 and I got to the second episode and just quit. Between Pidge sounding like someone trying to sound like a Muppet, the fact that the show is obviously two shows piecemealed together, the "we can't have a flawed protagonist" approach with rewriting the origin story of the titular Voltron*, and some of the other nonsense they did (like having Voltron known throughout the universe for his goodness, which is... forced) and I can't believe I ever liked this show as a kid.

And to be honest, from what I've heard, the original show doesn't get enjoyable until Prince Lotor appears anyways - he's the one thing I remember most about the original show (mostly his line of "Angel's Food cake!? I wanted Devil's Food cake!" or whatever it was)

*Spoiler text
The mashed together cartoon wrote it that Voltron was a champion of good and Haggar, disguised as a beautiful maiden, tricked and cursed Voltron. The original story is that Voltron was a bloodthirsty berserker and combat addict who challenged the fucking goddess to a fight and was punished by being separated into five lions.

...That being said, fans of the original Voltron will get a kick out of one of the episodes in Season 3. Let's just say there's a funny callback to one of the weirder things about that show. Which I'll put in the spoiler below.
