Thinking of repurposing my unused, old (~2013?) Kindle Fire tablet to a "gym" tablet, so that I can watch stuff on it while running on the treadmill.

I figure if it drops and cracks, "who cares", since I'm not using it right now anyway.

Any thoughts on this?

I have mine hanging on the wall right in front of the treadmill and it works fine.

I should have clarified, I run at the gym. I do not have a treadmill in my house.

As long as you maintain good running form and aren't looking down at it there's no problem.

I saw some people do this (albeit they're walking on the treadmill)... combined that with how boring it is to run on a treadmill (as opposed to running out in the park), I figure I give a try.

The only thing I fear is that I will not focus on my body, and just focus on the show/movie. For example, instead of focusing on my heartrate and adjusting my speed/incline to keep my heartrate above 170, I'll start being complacent and focus on the show/movie.

I thought all gyms had TVs.

The gym that I go to has like 10 TVs on the wall all tuned to some station, but I am not really interested in them. And that means I have to use wired headphones (which I do not prefer).

Unless you can secure it properly, I think it might fall off due tk the vibrations from running.

Yea, all the people I've seen do this just walk. I wonder if I can run... I'll try it tomorrow and see what happens.

I'm typically not interested in what they're on. I download a movie onto my phone and put in headphones and off I go.

When I was jogging regularly, that's what I pretty much did. A good 40 minute show while jogging on the treadmill. Use Bluetooth headphones if you can, it'll be easier.

I usually end up not really looking at the screen the whole time and just kinda listening and glancing down every once in a while.

All treadmills are different I guess, but I never had any concerns about the tablet or my phone falling off while running, even when doing sprints on the treadmill

Most modern treadmills have places to put a tablet or phone on.

Yup, that's what I use now for music while running and lifting.

It has a ledge, but it's not "secure".

Tablet devices are iffy on treadmills. I have dropped mine multiple times while running. What I prefer is to watch Netflix/whatever you use while on an elliptical machine and just listening to pocketed music while I actually run.

On another note, this tablet has been updating for the past hour or so now. Geez... I'm very happy to see that Amazon is still supporting the tablet and is giving it updates after like 4 years (unlike "premium" brands, like Samsung).
