How would be the best way to eat more than my money's worth here? As in, if my meal's $7 and I wanted to successfully get more value out of my food than the business was charging, what food and how much food would it take to accomplish that?

Buffet rules are generally drink water, no bread, no salads.

Sodas are the worst thing to have at a buffet by far.

This, and more generally, go for the items with the lowest profit margins. You probably still won't win, but you'll do better than people who eat one plate, drink half a glass of Coke, and leave.

I’ve tried to “win” at cheap buffets before, and generally it’s not worth the effort. If the place is cheap to begin with, then whatever “premium” items they have are of decidedly non-premium quality. Sure, if you’re throwing down $50 for the Caesars Palace buffet, it’s stupid to fill up on bread and mac n cheese, but for $7, just get what you like.

Although if you're determined, the advice already given is the way to go: drink only water and focus on the meats.

Oh and I still think the best value buffet is the M Resort's in south Las Vegas. Weekday lunch is $16 last I checked, and it's all you can drink. Yeah the booze selection is crappy, but they have beer, wine, and cider and you can sit there for 2 hours getting slammed. And the food is actually good!

I made a topic about this earlier in the year, I finally ate there.

Someone had recommended it to me years ago.

It was fantastic.

Most of the buffets are too expensive for the quality of food you get now.

After hearing about M Resort over the years here I'll be sure to visit if I ever return to Vegas.

And I'm not sincerely trying to screw the restaurant of their money at my own fattening expense. I'm still gonna get a variety of chicken and fried vegetables on my first plate and then a plate or two of sushi afterward before complaining the rest of the day about over-eating, as always.

Also didn't do it, but the M is one of the few vegas buffets remaining that doesn't close between meal periods. This is one of the big abusable things at many buffets. Lunch for breakfast prices or dinner for lunch prices.

Unless the buffet charges you after you've eaten. I've never been to a Chinese buffet that takes payment up front.
