What is your opinion on the subject?

Being fat is no way acceptable, like being stupid or lazy. Fat is a sub par human state and is a deserved source of embarrassment, it can be easily fixed for virtually all humans.

Accepting fat is accepting failure and someone who accepts failure IS a failure and if that's not despicable then we may as well give up doing anything and die out, saving the universe the burden.

I don't condone it as it's not good whatever way you look at it but if people are happy being that way then more power to them. I won't go out of my way to tell them what they already know but I also won't pretend it's acceptable.

I don't feel that people should be treated poorly for their weight but, at the same time, I don't feel that weight gain should be encouraged or normalized. In general, I scoff at the concept the same way I do any other identity politics.

Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and people need to mind their distance when it's appropriate for sure.

I wouldn't say it's not a health problem though, because it is.

People don't generally fix mental problems by having people insult them, but common sense is an oxymoron, so..

Seriously, I had a family intervention where a bunch of my old relatives spewed venom about my haircut. Meanwhile my real friends thought it was cool.

I'm fat and don't care what people think about me because generally speaking I have a rather low opinion about most people. However this whole fat is beautiful thing is bull. If you want to be fat go ahead but don't get mad when others think it's unattractive. Accept it as the way things are and put on a tshirt or moo moo or whatever makes you feel comfortable. As for the people who try and shame you for being fat F em they're just like all A holes trying to crap on others.

I agree with fat acceptance in such a way that people who are fat(myself included), shouldnt be bullied or shamed for it. But fat people(myself included) should strive to be healthier and lose weight, definitely.

I dont agree with fat pride either.

also to the one guy about the hair: i have long hair now down to my ass. I dont grow it out to annoy people, but if people get annoyed or upset about my long hair boy is it hilarious.

Saw this kid in Walmart with his mom and dad and he saw this fat woman. He tells his mom "Look mommy, that lady's really fat!". Then her pager goes off and he says " Watch out daddy, she's backing up! ". Saw the kid using an urinal, he says "daddy, that guy has a penis too!". I'm like wow, nice job on teaching your kid to not say things like that. They ended up getting banned from the store(I overheard them griping about it on the bus).

As it's harmful for the individual, I do not believe in fat acceptance. The only exception to this rule for me is those who are fat as a result of a medical issue, IE: it's out of their control. For everyone else, it's a choice, no matter how much you want to argue about it, it's possible to lose weight and not even that expensive, although it can suck. I'm also speaking from experience. I had to lose weight for work or I'd lose my job so I started to diet, my diet mostly composed of salad and chicken, and I managed to make it cost less than $100 for a whole month for my food, so that's not an excuse, and if you want to use time as an excuse, the salad took no time to make (OK, maybe 3 minutes to pull it out the fridge, grab my topping, and put it in a tupperware container that I had to dig out). The chicken itself may have taken more time to cook, but it didn't require constant monitoring, and there's a variety of simple ways to make it taste better at almost no cost!
TL:DR
Unless it's medical, I don't accept obesity, it's not that hard to have a healthy diet (willpower not accounted for).

Equal to smoking acceptance, really.

While I don't support fat acceptance, this is just a ridiculous post. I nearly cut myself on that edge.

I believe people should not be assholes to each other for arbitrary reasons that don't effect them at all.

I sort of believe in it. I don't believe in fat shaming. If a fat person is happy, and also accepting of the health risks associated with being fat? Well more power to 'em then.

Now if they're a fat person who says that being fat is healthy, no matter how much evidence there is to the contrary. And that it's actually more beautiful than being thin (and worse, that thin people are actually really ugly and need to eat more or whatever)? Then yeah, screw those people.

No, because outside the rare cases where someone is overweight due to a medical condition or medication side-effect, it is unhealthy and it is treatable. I don't think they should be mocked or insulted or shamed for it, because I don't think anyone deserves to suffer that simply for physical appearance, but at the same time it should not be normalized - I always cringe when I see the plus-sized beauty contests, with the contestants going on and on about how "being big can be beautiful" - maybe so, but that doesn't mean it should be encouraged.

I believe in treating people with respect without glamorizing fatness. A fat person is entitled to being treated like any other person, but at the same time I won't pretend like being obese is healthy just to avoid hurting their feelings.

I feel exactly this way, but about Muslims. It's a life choice, it's a sub-par human state, and it can easily be fixed. Accepting Islam is accepting failure, etc.

I'm 20lb overweight with some gut. It's sub-par but as you say, it looks average so it isn't too much of an issue.
