Tangent note, There's no direct diplomatic relations between the US and Iran, but to aid their respective citizens in these countries, there's a Iran special interest section in the Pakistani embassy in the US, and a US special interest section in the Swiss embassy in Iran. These mini, defacto embassies have limited reach/power compared to regular embassies.
