Like I wanna chat with some girl I spot sitting alone but she has her nose in her computer.
The program I'm in is like 90% dudes, and whatever girls there are, are like 30-40 years old.
I'm pretty social and I'm talking with some people, but, like... It seems like these fabled 'house parties' are just a myth.

Is it really just online dating these days? :\

Oh yeah, and clubs. I would love to join a club, there are even a few I can see I'd be interested in. Unfortunately I have a job at the same time as school so I have like, less than no time to spare doing extracurricular shit right now.

It's not a myth if you're plugged into the universities' community via things like fraternities, or in a very large program that has a better ratio than what I'm presuming is engineering or CS in your case.

Also, with most things, the most socializing happens at the beginning of the year when the incoming freshmen don't know anyone and socialized events are kind of forced upon people.

Honestly though, it's probably just temperament. If you're not the type to strike up random conversation with people on campus, it'll always seem like people don't meet new people in college or get invited to things. Gotta put yourself out there.

I'm trying tho, I've talked with people in my class where we're basically forced to tolerate each other and yeah we've chilled after but outside of classes, people are in their own impenetrable world. Like I said in the OP, I tried talking with some girl but she wouldn't even look up from her computer.

In the cafeteria, in classes, clubs, student government and events that the school hosts.

Attend organized events. They are good to initiate conversations based on commonality of interests. If you don't attend events, you'll never find someone to be-friend

The main purpose would just to be able to see what events are going on at school, they don't really convey it that well outside of social media. The fliers I see around campus are mostly awareness campaigns and shit.
