I'm almost debt free. Been a long journey but it feels amazing to see that the end is near.

Inspired by a topic @CableZL made a few days ago when he became debt free.

If true, I am curious how you get to such a point. Or is it college debt?

Does 0% interest count

nope. debt is debt. (i'm on the fence about whether or on a mortgage ought to count in this discussion, bu 0% interest on something still means you borrowed money and now owe money)

but i have much more than that in my bank account so i guess?

might as well pay it off, and if you have to spend money, run your credit card back up. at least you'll get the 1% cash back for using/paying off your card

220 is my mortgage, 25k owed to my mom (interest free loan that I have another 9 years to pay back) that I usedfor part of my down payment. I have another 10k or so on my line of credit that I used to buy a car this last spring.

Really it's all manageable.

I do do that. The topic just reminded me I needed to pay it off

well make the credit card companies work for you, instead of the other way around. that is the way I see it.

i primarily use my credit card, then just (hopefully) pay it off at the end of the month, rack up my flat 1.5% cash back. That way I don't feel so bad if I buy some dumbshit and get charged interest one month, the 1.5% I get back I use to justify getting charged interest.

I have some 0% debt on appliances. Could have paid it in full, but they offered financing at 0%, and there was no deal if if I paid it in full instead of taking the financing.
Otherwise, my credit card but I pay it off each month when the bill comes in. That's about it.

I don't ever let myself get charged interest. I think the only one time I got charged interest was like 3 years ago. The reason that I even have the credit cards is to get the 2-10% back on various things (I have the citi double cash and an Amex card so I get big rewards :P)

I'm terrible with impulse buying and I'm not rich by any stretch, so every once in a while I get fucked up as far as that goes. I get flat 1.5% through capital one towards my statements, I kinda like that, but I'm looking for something better.
