They'll just go from island to island while they whip up more pointless bad guys and more forgettable side characters until the end of time itself. One Piece is The Simpsons of manga, it's never gonna end.

Yeah during this arc he left the Big Mom pirates to join Luffy.

not realy official but he sealed the deal when he said he openly opposed big mom in favor of the straw hats. no going back from that one for sure

but then again, the "joining" after the timeskip is a bit altered. since jinbe has his own crew and iirc, they're sinonymously agree that they will support strawhat, jinbe will probably join as a lieutenant like bartolomeo instead of the core party member.

i think oda really wants us to understand the scale in these arc and forward that luffy really need an army not just a close friend joining in his adventure. considering the monsters he gonna face, i like the direction

Yeah I agree - when we learn that the Emperors have armadas at their command, it makes sense for the Strawhats to amass a similar military power. Sure Luffy might not be very politically inclined, but he really does need to scale up to fit in.
