28 y/o Charles Powell was getting married to his sweetheart in Cincinnati, Ohio and wanted one his good friends of 15 YEARS to come to his wedding..and it was an XBOX LIVE FRIEND that he met on Phantasy Star Online!!

He asked if he would be his BEST MAN at his wedding and he had NEVER met him in person but always wanted after talking to him on XBOX and becoming friends for over a decade...

Joe Walters was the man he asked as both were just kids back then when they were playing XBOX together at 13 years old...

They were playing PSO on the original XBOX when Charles character walked up to Joe and they started a conversation about an item he needed..

And through Joe, he met 2 other guys, William Brown from Tennessee and Joey Morris from Maryland and the 4 men had a lot in common and became the best "online" friends ever after sending each other messages and coordinating times to play together

He said "I would come home from school and they would be online and i would be online. We just liked the same things"

Until the wedding, they have never met each other and only saw each other through facebook and other social media platforms..

But now that they were grown men, Charles big day was coming up to marry his sweetheart, Myra and his 3 online friends got on planes to his wedding to witness his big day..and to all finally meeting each other.

They wanted to meet in one place and have tried to set it up but it just never worked out but his buddies weren't going to miss his wedding day and it was the perfect opportunity to meet up.

Charles picked them up at the airport and said "We already knew each other the moment we met. It was like we were already family"

Needless to say, the gamers got drunk and had a blast at the wedding and have taken several photos to remember this day...

either way this is awesome.

same here cept the chubby part, just geeky looking. pleasantly surprised to see otherwise though. i'm always happy to discover something I also enjoyed has a more diverse fanbase than I originally thought.

just like when I joined a metal gear solid fan group on facebook and a decent chunk of the group was middle easterners. hell most of them are more pleasant to talk to then a lot of the white guys in the group.

on topic though. no I haven't I don't make online friends usually that I haven't already known in person. have made a few exceptions but most of them are people that did live close enough to me meeting up was a reasonable expectation.

if I decided to meet people i've met online though i'd definitely want to do it in a more casual sense though instead of a wedding.

i did met one guy one the Xbox 1 back in 2015, playing Destiny together. He lived in Cali and i lived in Texas.

He was cool, played alot of games with him within the span of like 8 months, met some of his irl squad through party chat.. Cool people but i eventually switched to Ps4 so i dont talk to them anymore. Definitely was a good friendship though, Online friendships for me are rare, because i dont go looking for them i rarely talk to people online. And when i do its even more rare for me to actually vibe with them well like i did with that guy

This Irc channel I used to idle in had regular meetups, it was #pennsylvania on dalnet, I went a few times..... Weird good times!
