After the idiocy Nintendo pulled with AM2R and then releasing the M:SR with pay locked content (amiibo unlocked items), there's no way in hell I'd vote for it. That being said, they do still know how to make good games, and while I haven't played it yet, I do find BOTW to be rather derivative of the modern open world genre as a whole and has numerous flaws, of all the other games on the list for GOTY 2017, it STILL looked to be the best.

Although, even if I had played both games and thought that M:SR was the better game, I would still have voted for BOTW due to the reasons I mentioned above. While only one of those actually affects gameplay, that alone is bad enough. You aren't getting the full game for the price you pay. It's not even DLC. It's right on the cart and as such, is functionally NO different from "on disk DLC". Oh, wait, I take that back. If you lose the Amiibo, you can't get those items in future runs, unlike with ODDLC, so it's actually WORSE.

And with the price you'd have to pay for each one of those items? It's just not worth it.

$40 for game
$10 per Amiibo (price may be higher)

$60 total (two amiibos)

$60+ for the complete game on a console where $40 is the norm for a complete game. F*** you Nintendo. F*** you.

Because a handheld remake of a 30 year old Metroid game would ever stand even a remote chance against a brand new 3D Zelda, which as a collection have ranged as being anywhere from simply great games to games that stand as being noted as the greatest games of all time.

Meh, you probably won't see this, so this is more for everyone else's benefit. I'm not a troll. If you had taken the time to read the post, you would have seen that there is indeed logic in there. Logic based on facts.

You don't say "fuck you" to long time fans like that and expect them to just be okay with it. EA has learned that the hard way. Now it's Nintendo's turn. I myself have decided against buying the game. Shitty business practices like that need to be punished and this is the only way to do it. Even if I bought the game used, I would still need Amiibos to get the full game, and I'm not buying those. I shouldn't have to.

Let me say this though. I would have happily paid for good DLC, if it was actual ADD ON CONTENT. But to put something in the game and then lock it behind not just a paywall, but a paywall that's way too high, AND in limited supply is just downright wrong and I refuse to support it.

I'm not a troll. I'm a gamer that's tired of industry bullshit.

As for why I don't really care weather or not people really see my post, is because a lot of self proclaimed metroid fans and gamers have disagreed with similar opinions in the past for whatever reason, be they Nintendrones or what have you. So I'm not a troll. I just have an opinion that makes sense from a logical perspective but for some reason, is unpopular.

i voted for persona 5. it didn't have a season pass like zelda did. Hard mode isn't locked behind the season pass. And extra quests aren't locked under season pass.

Persona 5 does have dlc, but it's all optional. you can buy cloths, music or more persona. But it really doesn't add to the experinces like the season pass of zelda. Also they are sold individually (unlike zelda)

TC isn't the first person to freak out about the Samus Returns amiibo content, but I don't know why so many people acted like this is a big turning point for how Nintendo handles amiibo DLC. All of it sounds pretty much in line with the type of amiibo content you'd get in past games.

The rest of it just sounds like "Waah, companies actually expect people to pay for their intellectual property?" whining.

I got around the amiibo problem recently. I now get them 95% off the sticker price. Fuck nintendo indeed.

The reason is unpopular is because it does not make much sense from a logical perspective.

The content locked behind amiibo is absolutely not dlc worth content. For 40 bucks you have a complete game.
A picture gallery and an "harder than hard mode, but still dull mode" are absolutely not a reason to buy amiibo. That's the fail of your "logic", as you seem to take the problem reversed.
Those are bonuses for having bought plastic toys. They are more or less cool bonuses, but absolutely not something you would pay for, nor something lacking to the game if you want to have a "complete experience" (whatever that would mean).

Also, you're not fair about am2r.
Nintendo let the dev finish the game (it was in development since 8 years, and was probably the most famous fan game ever), they let him release it, then started to launch dmca to the sites monetizing the host of the game. It took more than a week before they contacted the dev. Just a fragment of eternity on internet: the game is now available for anyone who can use google.
I think that nintendo could have managed this in a better way, but they just couldn't let people make money with a brand they own while they were founding the development of a similar game.
The situation is not that bad. We have a great fan game for free, and a commercial other great game.
Nothing to complain, really.
