Yea, my long sleeve button downs are soft too. I wish I could find a brand with the color variety Lacoste has for its short sleeve polos.

mens wearhouse or brooks brothers or Nordstrom has a ridiculous number of choices for colors for long sleeve button downs.

I have some for strictly Spring/Summer casual wear. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing one in a professional setting though.

Now you're speaking my language. I just bought checkered long sleeve button down Polo Ralph Lauren shirts in pink and green. Pink, green, forest green, pastel yellow, black, red, and dark purple are my jams.

Zara has ALOT of nice clothes that are basically knockoff of high end designer clothing for a fraction of the price. Also someone said that the store is actually the brainchild of one of the old Versace head hanchos. But not sure if that's definitely true or not.

Anyhow Zara is the only fast fashion store I'll even consider these days. H&M and Forever 21 are shit.

I wouldn't buy designer jeans. Go cheap on those. Shirts and jackets I'd splurge on though. However if you're spending 2-3K on Givenchy or Gucci you won't get much. Most Gucci clothing starts at roughly 400 dollars. I'm not a big fan of Givenchy. Too much distressing and the designs are shit. I like Saint Laurent for it's slim fit and quirky designs. Burberry is relatively cheap given it's designer name. I wouldn't buy designer jeans. Go cheap on those. Shirts and jackets I'd splurge on though.

I bet you are. Why were we arguing again. I don't associate Lacoste and Polo Ralph Lauren with frats. I associate them with looking fly.

They aren't professional by any means and accentuate the fact that you don't work out and are best paired with big clunky white sneakers and cargo shorts to complete the "I'm a dad that's given up on looking good but sure can BBQ " look.

That outfit has nothing on the light blue button down with Walmart khakis and Payless black rubber "fancy" shoes that says "I'm still in school but my mom says I need to dress up" look.

I mean I would much rather wear khakis and a light blue button down than cargo shorts and a polo...

That said I dong understand buying cheap shoes or clothes. You spend a little more and they look nicer and last a lot longer.

It also doesnt have to be an extreme one way or another.

I mean boots, Chinos and a long sleeve Henley are casual and looks far more presentable than either of us described.

so its not the brands im talking about, its polo shirts (short sleeve, 3 buttons, collar). brands really don't matter. its the design.

I think you're letting stereotypes and possibly your environment cloud your judgement. The models on the Lacoste website look very presentable, don't look like frat douche bags, and don't need muscles to pull off the shirt. Personally I think a good polo works in an urban context best, possibly with a pair of beat up skate shoes and naturally unkempt hair.

Of course if you put the collar up you should be hanged.

dude, just buy clothes that you think represent you

it's easy to tell the people who wear their clothes apart from those whose clothes "wear" them (if that makes any sense)

don't just dump $1~3k in a single day based off of friends' advice
