I tried to replace the keyboard/trackpad cable, and in doing so accidentally shorted the battery. Now my keyboard/trackpad aren't working and the battery is shorted.

I have a warranty. Do you think they're going to be able to tell that I fucked around with things? I'm so nervous that they're going to say I voided my warranty

Yeah it seems like there's no real tells. I made sure everything is exactly how I found it before I took the back off.

I also noticed that the protection I have guarantees up to 2 covers for accidental damage that I myself caused, though there's a bit of a fee. But if they do notice that I made things worse, I guess it would fall under that which isn't so bad

Of course I'm just afraid they'll figure it out somehow, usually these companies include ways to tell, don't they? I couldn't spot any though...

if i was in that situation just pay whatever fee they want. and mention you tried to mess with it in order to get it to work but it only made things worse.

I'll pay a fee if I have to but I'm hoping they'll cover it for free under the warranty I have
