Coatings are very useful, especially if the bow you're using buffs one of said coatings.

I love my insect glaive.

Also, is there any reason not to always use my SOS flare? Yeah it makes the monster tougher, but having multiple people makes it more fun imo. That anjanath trex guy was fun and challenging as a group.

Yeah, that's the gist of it. SOS will call in more people but make the monster tougher. It is worth noting, though, that people can still join without the SOS (through the 'join session' option), but only from your session and only if you didn't password lock it.

Seeing the IG in MH4's reveal trailer was what got me into the series actually. It's simple and cool and slick. But it does get frustrating being in the air and getting stuck mounting while your juices wear out.

To be fair, you can choose not to do it.

Ok so I tried out switch axe in a few quests and adore it. So my problem I have now is I only have one monster bone L, and have to decide whether to use it on my dual blades or switch axe to upgrade then.

Having a bitch of a time deciding.

I rotate between Charge Blade, Greatsword and Bow every few hours or for certain monsters. I keep at least 3 of each type: 1 for damage, 1 for element, and 1 for status. I always try and upgrade when I can, and grind for materials when I need them.

Charge Blade is life. Also, I'm HR 5 and had a full set of Anja armor before his quest. I love grinding in this game

Yes, I'm just saying that they can join you without an SOS flare if they are in your session.

I did right after this lol. I made a shit load of progress last two days. Rocking a badass switch axe and my sworn rapiers(dual swords). I love those things.

Likewise. When I want to grind a specific monster I just search for SOS flares for that monster and do it.

I'm getting ready to do Diablos for the first time lol

I agree. There is something fufilling about helping others in this game. I'm really not even sure why, but yeah.
