Speaking of his comments on high heels, I was just thinking about if I ever ran a company, I'd make sure every meeting room has a table standing high enough that you have to stand. This way, meetings will never last longer than they should because everyone's going to get tired of standing, women have to wear flats and drop those obnoxiously loud high heels, and I get to slam on the table to make a point, Ace Attorney style.

Yeah it's really bad.

First he says relationships are detoriating, which I don't even think is true.

Then he claims women wear make up to sexually arouse men and then its hypocritical if they complain about harrasment.

Wut....

People want to look their best because

1. They like how they look.
2. It's profressional.

By the same token of logic men being clean and combing their hair has no place in the workplace.

It's just nonsense...

If you can't work effectively because some of your colleagues are wearing lipstick then you suck. There's no if/nos or buts about it.

TC deliberately posts this video at a certain point so you dont see the context.

JP says "it's not easy to solve complicated problems, and ready-made ideological solutions don't work, it just makes it worse"

and the interviewer challenges him by saying "that's just a maxim, you're not actually addressing the question"

then JP questions him on a pretty common question that we don't even think about, which is relations between men & women in the workplace. JP says that women in the workforce is a pretty new thing and so far there have been lots of problems, and continues to challenge the guy on stuff that we basically just accept without thinking, like letting women wear makeup/high heels/etc in the office. this is really more of a thought experiment than anything, and i think he is being deliberately inflammatory here.

however my problem with JP is that he gets way too into the evolutionary angle of shit (i.e. "women paint their lips red because it simulates flush lips during sexual arousal"), which i feel makes him pretty detached from reality. in this case, it is that the action of putting on lipstick has evolved past being a primal practice to having a different meaning altogether, and honestly for a lot of men, lipstick isn't even sexually appealing, so it's hard to say that a woman putting on lipstick is subconsciously making herself more sexually presentable. I like JP but i think he is up his own ass way too much, he takes arguments like this into the real world that dont really have any place there

His point is that it's hypocritcal to put on make up (specifically red lip stick and blush for increased arousal) or wear high heels (that accentuate the booty) and then complain about sexual harassment because the point of those actions are to increase a girl's sexual attractiveness.

And that's a dumb point.

For starters the premise isn't even true. Looking good and wearing make up does not come from a goal to attract mates anymore.

And for two, even if we pretend the premise is true, that's still an awful point to use as an example for men and women not working together. It's the same logic as the Islamic "Women need to cover themselves or else men will rape them!" stupidity.

If you can't look at or work with a girl without harrasing her, then you suck. It's not because you are male it's because you suck. You need to change and keep up with the basic low standards that everyone else manages.

I didn't watch the video, just wanna comment on the whole lipstick thing. We're still biological. The impulses that guided our evolution for hundreds of thousands of years are still there. We do all kinds of things without realizing that our subconscious is pushing us to do those things for reproductive fitness.

It's possible that our subconscious still influences us in that way.

This. Outside of the context leading to that question it makes him seem a bit off his rocker, but his point is that we treat too many things as axiomatic without really digging into them. TC is one of those people trying to turn Peterson into someone like Tucker Carlson so they can outright ignore every point Peterson has or will ever make, because that's way easier than actually addressing or refuting them.

It doesn't matter what the intentions of the girl is. When you look attractive, you attract attention. That's the point of being attractive in the first place. If you take actions to look more attractive in a provocative manner, you'll attractive more interest in that manner as well.

This is an issue, I will agree. But that doesn't negate the fact that it's contradictory to want to take precautions to not attract that kind of attention to yourself while putting on pumps and lush red lipstick on. And I'll emphasize that it's not all make up that increases your sexual attractiveness, which is why I'm repeating the specific examples Petersen is used.

Of course he's occasionally wrong. Pretending like that invalidates anything he's ever said is stupid. The TC is obviously trying to discredit his intelligence, which would impact use of his arguments in other topic areas. I'm not defending his argument. I'm defending his character.

Lipstick makes your lips look thicker, lusher, gives it that pump. Haven't you heard of the term, dsl (I'm not typing that out, much less capitalizing it)? That has never been used to describe thin lips. And red has been researched and documented to be more sexually provocative. The stereotype of a lead female vocalist of a jazz band wearing a deep red dress exists for a reason. Petersen isn't out of bounds here.

As bad as it sounds, I actually agree with this.

That's not to say men and women can't do the same jobs. It's just that having the opposite sex around is distracting, both genders have to watch what they say around the other gender.

I've never struggled with it dude.

Having worked in various restaurants, one of the most common instances of employees being off-task are a result of co-workers playing grab ass with each other. And actually, playing grab ass with your co-workers is a lot of fun. That's why I think men and women should continue working together...so that I can keep having sex with my co-workers. Some things are more important than productivity.

If I were running a restaurant and was fixated on profits, I can't imagine hiring only male servers. Women are going to get much bigger tips cause they can woo far easier. And I did have a coworker who used to "play sex" with my senior chef. It was hilarious.
