I'm not finding this game to be very interesting. Its hard to get into. Sucks cause it seems like a great game too

What is hard about it? Also, are you playing solo or with others?

The start is slow and dealing with the various non-combat systems in town is a headache if you're new.
I would recommend sticking purely to the main story missions until you aren't able to progress further, and then start looking into what else is available.

It just seems really tedious and slow. The attack system for me is really annoying as well. Idk ima watch some game play tomorrow morning and see if it clicks

The attack system can be tailored to a number of potential gameplay types depending on the weapon. What weapons have you tried?

It took me like 3 iterations of the game to truly get into it but once you do you'll wonder how people have been missing out all the way up until World.

Pro tip: Bowguns turn this into a slow ass third person shooter lol

Use those if you're having a hard time with the melee weapons

I just got the game and spent a good hour in the training area. It's good to dick around with different weapons and see what feels right.

It does feel a little slow to me as well, but I'm sure it'll get better as combos become more fluid as you get into it.

It's 20x better playing co-op imo. You should give it a shot before you start disliking the game more.

I have no friends that consistently play games so it would probably suck for me.

Co-op with randoms is the equivalent of playing with AI to me especially since nobody ever talks

It's still a lot of fun because you don't feel alone, but you do miss out on that feeling of accomplishing it all on your own. Basically my rule of thumb is don't co-op a monster you haven't killed solo. Similar to Dark Souls.

I like it so far, but there's a couple parts that really irritate me, like having to chase monsters 2-3 times. It's not fun at all.

The switch axe has been my main weapon through the whole game, it's awesome. I'm currently at the final monsters.

I don't have any experience with the long sword, but it is the most used weapon by a lot. If you think it's too slow, try sword and shield, dual blades, bow, or glaive (although it's a bit more complicated). I've also heard hammer is pretty fast when used right.

But ALL weapons are viable, so don't stress too much about it.

I played Freedom Unite in psp and it really wasnt for me. The combat was awkward and I just felt like it was too sluggish. Very repetitive.

I was wondering if the new game was more like the Witcher, but I dont think it is.

The Switch Axe is off the chain yo. But it is a bit jarring to play if you're completely new to Monhun. Then again it used to be twice as slow if you tried it out in any of the earlier games.

But the LS is a good choice to start off with. It has a couple new moves in World that practically reinvent it, the counter and the helm splitter (the jump attack). Pull off the spirit combo to get to the Red bar, sacrifice your red spirit bar for the helm splitter, and repeat the cycle till it dies. And the counter, if pulled off, lets you shortcut to the spirit finisher. Check this video off from the beta and try to work towards copying it.

I bounced off MHFU hard as well, back in the day. I only tolerated like 2 hours of playing it. MHW so far is much better. The beta was a nice way to get introduced to the hunting without having to deal with all the extra BS. The main game takes things a bit slower unfortunately, and I think that's to its disadvantage.
