Yep.

IIRC, there's actually two intro movies that have some plot elements to them. You have to sit at the title screen twice in a row to see them both. The combat system is a bit complex at first, but once you learn the rules, it's pretty fun. Has a nice mix of strategy to it. Overall a good game, but a bit grindy.

You can cover areas that have been revealed already so long as one or more hexes are opened up. Isn't fun to waste hexes but eventually you'll have more than you know what to do with.

For an optimal play through, you'll want to clear all side quests before moving to the next chapter as they won't carry over. But that's only if you care about trophies and finishing all 500 fights in the arena (not even kidding) plus the bonus area.

The second main screen scene shouldn't be watched until at least chapter 5 or 6, any earlier and it will completely slip your mind and nothing in it will have anything to connect it with the story. It's very elaborate and deep but very confusing if you overlook a single detail. And yes, a second play through is necessary to fully understand it.

i probably could take it on, handled a 5/10 last time but i cheesed the whole game by skipping to the final fight.

Combat isn't even too complex except against like 3 enemy types and bosses.

Step 1: send a pistol user (I think you could dual wield). Have them action run to the left or right of an enemy. Fire when your circle gauge thing fills at least 3 times. It'll break the enemy HP in to several smaller sections. Jump just before arriving at your destination to milk the airtime for an extra break or two.
Step 2: do the same but run to the other respective side of the enemy, and make sure they're a machine gun user so they can fill an HP section with break damage.
Step 3: send the last character (have them use a pistol) straight so they run past the enemy but between the first two. Strike them. It may launch them. Jump in the air. Fire repeatedly. It'll slam the enemy and drop hexes and other goodies the more times you slam them. If you ran through before jumping, it can trigger a trinity special attack, which is mostly reserved for boss types and the toughest enemy types.

Basically, break HP gauge, fill a section, hit it and they can't restore health beyond that point again. Rinse and repeat and you'll win 95% of the fights in the game without a problem unless you aren't geared enough.

Think of it like dissidia final fantasy. Brave damage, break them, HP damage, repeat as necessary.

They made the three-way attack far more complicated than it should have been. It was also not nearly as effective as it needed to be to get people to want to use it. It was easier just using basic attacks to wittle down HP then using the right gun

It works wonders against those damn helicopters, trash demon and basically any other monster plated in three much armor. You know. More than too much.

I did a white one too just because I don't know what else I have to do but again pushing X does nothing.

If it's linked with a side quest, they won't return. Have to do it that chapter.

But I remember some areas open up early early and have enemies from later in the game blocked by mini bosses. Can generally come back for those ones.

Yeah, some of it is still covered which is why you can't access it. The dots over the back the two indicate it's still blocked, if I recall. Might want to uncover the gray ones surrounding it just to be sure

Yes. You have to uncover all tiles of the city to actually be able to go into it. Specifically, the red ones. All locked towns that require hexes are always colored to a specific hex. They drop from certain enemies in chapters throughout the game, so basically it's a way to keep you confined to places where they want you to be.
