I got it on 3ds VC and had no idea what I was in for (speaking about Lost Levels). I'd never played SMB1 and the game kicked my ass, I was salty
There was a ton of stuff where you could fuck yourself on jumps due to how you can't move left, a lot of hidden blocks as well --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Better than the Japanese version. The GBA version removes my favorite boss fight though. Its okay for on the go, but I'll stick with NES or All*Stars otherwise.

100%. Not only is the game itself fun, but it's also got this really catchy music. Blows my mind.

I liked both. LL was actually easier to me than SMB1. By a lot.
SMB1 kicked my butt on and off for literally like 20 years. Mostly because of the last two levels. Those damn hammer bros, and freaking World 8 Bowser, yikes. I eventually beat it by going through the whole game with the fire flower I got in 1-1 and never getting hit, then just running straight through Bowser. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Since it was back then, it was acceptable for this and Link's Awakening to do that kind of ending. These days it would piss you off.

Nah, the SMB2 ending was fine for the kind of game it was. It would piss me off if they did it for an MGS/Mass Effect kind of game but if a new Mario game came out with that ending I don't thi k it woukd bother me in the slightest.

Yessir. Superdoki Mariopanic 2 was my first real video game. Technically I played SMB first, but I never truly enjoyed it (and to this day still don't). What really captured me about SMB 2 was the imaginative, off-the-wall qualities of it, not to mention four unique playable characters and a much wider enemy pool than the first game. And for me, Wart remains one of the more epic final bosses in the series. And (apart from Mario's trademark main theme), the music was far more memorable than SMB, and imo set the bar for all subsequent games to have increasingly stellar soundtracks accompanying the gameplay.

It's not that fun to me, despite SMB2 Advance being by far my most played 2D Mario as a kid, but it influenced the series a lot & was ridiculously advanced for a 1987 FDS game.
