Then again, I suppose it depends on how each is handled, but most people's image of a supervillain is of a male, and most villains tend to be male, anyway.

Absolutely. I take women villains more seriously. It's psychologically proven that women hold grudges and stay angrier longer than men. You could see Superman and Lex Luthor just stopping at some point and going "Screw this, I'm tired of fighting with you, want to go grab a beer?"

Depends on the situation. Forgot which one, but some cartoon movie has this crazy big beast of a thing with the most feminine voice possible and it just doesnt work for me. Almost like they were trying too hard to please people.

But more often than not I couldnt care less.

If people take hurricanes with female names less seriously than male names because psychology, I doubt a female villain holds the same weight as a male villain, no matter how progressive you tell yourself you are.

That bitch from Fast and Furious 8 was a fucking ...really, I can't post that word?

She was a fucking BIIIIITCH. Every thing she did made me hate her more and I hoped Vin Diesel was going to bash her face in with a sledgehammer.

The problem with female villains is they're usually written to just be giant bitches, rather than to be intimidating.

Hela was pretty badass and I took her as seriously as any other non-Thanos threat.

But there's been tons of female villains I grew up with like Maleficent, Ursula, Cruella De Vil, Rita Repulsa, etc and back then, they scared me way more than male villains.

I guess but she did work on Asgard. Heck, even unlocked Thor couldnt beat her and they had to sacrifice Asgard and pull that stunt with Surtr just to beat her.

Are there several that are intimidating and cool as fuck? Yes. Are they often implemented well in fiction? No.

That's the fault of writers though. So often they make them more of a bitch than a villain. But this is a problem affecting male villains too, where they make them more of a dick than a villain.

There aren't many main female villains in games I can think of with story relevance. They typically end up being sidekicks to the main villain.

I suppose the ones that stick out the most in memory are Marlow, Queen Zeal, and Maria (BoF3) all of whom I felt we're generally serious.

I feel like players who didnt play knife of dunwall wont appreciate delilah more.

Plus i like what they did to her in dishonored 2 and i hope it is true (which they never really confirm, but it would be better if it was true) that delilah is really a kaldwin as the propaganda said so she really have legitimate claim to the throne
