My school had two armed police officers on site daily, they had their own office on site with a gun locker containing AR15's for emergencies. The police station was a block away from the school.

Yet we still had two instances of gun violence in 8 years, one while I was there.

Armed guards won't deter someone who is determined.

Edit: we also had metal detectors at all entrances.

Cool. There would have been twice as many incidents if there were no guards. Armed personal deter killers.

Oh so 17 people were killed, withh 15 more injured at your school too?

I'm not saying armed guards would 100% prevent a guy like that getting in the school, but perhaps those numbers would be less.

Depends on size of the school, population, and how clustered people are together.

I still don't understand how introducing more guns to a panicked situation like that can do anything but cause more harm. Like, it seems very obvious to me why it's a terrible idea, but idk, conservatives feel really strongly about this one. More bullets flying around when people are cramped together, running, hiding, screaming, like that's just going to add more chaos, more confusion, and danger. More likely that more people will get hurt.

Imagine two panicked people shooting at each other while people are caught in the crossfire.

So 3D print a gun, kill one of the guards when they not expecting it, take their guns and keys and suddenly you got yourself a couple of AR15 to pay and spray at classroom doors when you run down the corridor, sounds easy enough if you are prepared to die.

Not Latino gang, black one. Been shot at too.

I ain't been locked up because I was smart enough(lucky enough) to not get caught. One of my two best friends growing up was in that gang and got killed. I wasn't in a gang. Had no intention of it. Saw too many people I knew get killed. All I'd do is go out to the farm for them and get trash bags full of weed from their grower and bring it back into the city. I was white so less likely to be pulled over, they were all black. My other best friend from my youth is serving 24 years currently. You trying to act hard and try to one up me over some shit like this, without knowing me whatsoever, jsut makes you look petty.

I came from nothing and have made something of myself. I got away from that shit. Left the state entirely. I live on my own now, and don't have to deal with that shit anymore.

That's not entirely true. While it obviously depends on a location and a lot of other shit I know affiliates that got far closer than you'd think.

Around here shit was common as fuck depending on the circles you frequent. NLR and AB operate outside of prison as you must well know.

I agree with the rest aside from the lockup requirement though. It's absolutely a different level if you are/have been locked up though.

Yeah like I said, I wasn't in, nor never wanted to be in, that gang. I was just friends with several of them, and so I was always with them and they trusted me, and I did some work for them that I mentioned earlier. Just mule work, nothing violent. They paid me per trip. It's how I got all my video game systems and shit when I was in school >_>

Anecdotal I know but if the schools I went to had armed guards or teachers with guns, people would have died.

Some of the kids used to drive the staff insane and some of the teachers were unstable.

One of the teachers got harrased and ended up being thrown down a flight of stairs (she was female BTW)

Another foreign teacher used to snap and beat children with sticks (she was fired)

Students used to get in fights, break into places (including after school was closed) and just generally be asswipes.

There would have been deaths and injuries. I cannot for the life of me see it working.

I also had metal dectectors too by the way and they didn't do a thing to stop people bringing things in. So I kinda laugh at anyone who supports them.

Its not introducing more guns, its introducing TRAINED gun users.

That said, the issue is NOT guns, its mental illness.

I just brought up the locked up part because if you so games up you should know any serious gang shot callers call shots from prison. Out here everything pretty much gets ran from inside the pelican bay shoe where they keep all validated high ranking gang members.

It's a hell of a lot harder to get a high body count with a pistol and a shotgun than it is with a 45 round per minute .323 Assault style rifle.

That doesn't answer my question.

Do I think guns literally control the person using them and aim and fire at others completely independently? No obviously not.

Do I think easily available weapons of death and the ensuing violent, paranoid culture around them contributes to mass killings like this? Yes because I am not a blinkered idiot.

This plays a bigger role than you give credit for. Why not figure out why people commit these and proactively prevent or combat them that doesn't including restricting rights of law abiding citizens?

Maybe its all the glorified violence we see and play due to our1st amendment rights...
