Its the best rpg Ive played since NV that incorporates so many pen and paper elements

Ive just started to sink my teeth into it but its almost overwhelming the amount of stuff you can do and the level you can manage your abilities and reputation

Fallout 4 is a good game but it has even less on paper rpg elements than Fallout 3 or Skyrim

It is more of an action game with some rpg elements

I'd like to give it a shot but I'm gonna wait a while to see if it gets through the first run of patching.

It's a small dev, so I don't really feel like paying that amount of money until I know it's gonna work decently.

I've read of some good things about that game but might have to use the "Save on Quit" mod. There's a fine line between giving players that immersion while providing some qualify of life features and I fear Kingdom Come Deliverance mighta gone a whee it too far in terms of immersion. Not to say that is bad but rather I'll be willing to sacrifice some immersion for something as basic as "Save on Quit".

Totally understandable

For me so far the game has been auto saving often enough that I havent needed to use any of the save potions after 6 or so hours of gameplay

Yeah in the base game you cant manually save unless you drink some booze called Savior Schnapps or something that are fairly rare. Kinda like ink ribbons from early Resident Evil games.

I think they did that to discourage people from save scumming before trying to steal and whatnot

This. Im not dropping 60 bucks until I know its not a nightmare. At least with something like 7 days to die I only had to pay half that.

No custom character was a big turnoff for me, especially as the dude looks boring. If there are branching paths or alternative outcomes to things, it may win me back. I like that side quests can handle themselves though.

Found out you can also save the game by just sleeping in any bed

My dude has two broken legs after I decided to travel through a forest at night and not pay enough attention to where I was going. Took a bit of a fall. I may have been drunk at the time.

Gonna see if I can limp to the next town

screw that. if i want to save and reload then i should be able to.

also read you learn feints, i don't want to bother with feints in a video game. i don't even like blocking...

To some degree I do feel developers should be able to enforce their vision of the game and maintain the "spirit of the game" but at the same time if players want to "ruin" said experience that should be within their ability as well so long as their opinion of the game is based on the base game and it doesn't affect the experience of other players.

What I find interesting is how some players feel superior over others in a video game just because they're playing the game as intended by the developers. Of all things to feel prideful of, a video game doesn't quite carry that much weight in my opinion.

Yeah that is silly. People should play games whatever way is the most fun for them, especially in a single player game.

There are so many graphical glitches its killing me. I just finished the first village stuff and I cant get out of Teresa uncle's house because the house hasnt loaded in yet but everything around it has.

There was also cutscene where some guy was supposed to be holding a sword and it was just invisible, like just the sword lol.

Even with all that, combat is the worst part so far. Its like an even worse For Honor mechanic

Yeah it has some serious jank. Im trying to spec in drinking so my dude is constantly drunk and during dialogue he will sway in front of the screen and you see inside his head like something out of a nightmare

If you progress through the MQ a bit you get some weapons training that boosts your levels a bit and it gives you a couple perks that can give you an edge during a fight. Feinting is super useful

Well first I tried fighting the guy but he won, and he said if I started anything again hed have me thrown in jail

After my lockpicks broke I said fuck it and just ran up and started wailing on him until he passed out and then I took his key. I think you can go to the castle and tell on him though to get help from the baliff

Are there some story critical NPCs that cannot die? Can you kill everyone and simply be unable to progress or there's always another approach? For some reason I'm thinking of Arcanum: of Magick and Steamwork where you can talk or fight your way through the entire game and still finish it.

I guess there are a handful of main story NPCs that cant die

They originally had it so anyone could die but some important NPCs were getting killed when the player wasnt even around
