Yeah, the collection radius isn't great. You eventually can get Elements that expand it (significantly so) but argh wish that was just the default.

So about the different fighting styles in this game. Sora is one of my two favorites to play, in her case because she's all about melee and is still fast and controls well. Kou, though being primarily melee, is not that fast and as the roster expanded, I got increasingly unhappy playing him. This is a trend with melee characters. But Sora doesn't have this problem.

She did get randomly gimped by having the lowest number of free slots in the game, so it gets hard to decide what to go for late game, but I still found her quite effective.

Question. Been finishing every enemy off with an aerial attack to maximize score, even if I get hurt in the process sometimes. Does it actually make enough of a difference to matter? I've gotten a 2200 S Rank on every dungeon so far, so I'm wondering if there's actually a cap I've been going past with points to spare.

As I recall, aerial finishes don't increase your score, they make bonus XP, and they're not very important.

Perfect Score in a dungeon is 3000. But you only need 2000 for an S-Rank.

You can get a max of 500 points from the Time, Damage, Greed, and Treasure categories. You get the max from beating the target time, having under 100% damage, and getting 100% for Greed and Treasure. Beyond that you can get 200 points for taking no damage. 200 points for beating the target time by a bit (Think 75 or 80% of the time). 100/200 points for getting Elemental Kills on 30%/50% of the Greed. 100/200 points for destroying 50%/100% of the breakable objects in the dungeon. And 100/200 points for getting a 100/200 hit combo.

Nothing else goes into the dungeon score.

Aerial Kills, Fatal Kills, etc. (Elemental Kills too but as mentioned they do factor into dungeon score as well) give you slight bonuses to stuff like gem drop and rare item drop rate IIRC. Nothing super significant though IIRC.

I don't know if it's still up there, but there was a "Complete DLC Collection" for free that was apparently all the DLC from the Vita version of the game that included a costume for most of the characters, a bunch of cosmetic accessories, and character themed backgrounds for NiAR.

Someone can double check, but I don't think it's the actual VAs of SPiKA. Falcom put together a group it calls "Real SPiKA" that does those (and other) songs.

I think it needed another editting pass is all really. I caught a bunch of instances of a typo or missing word here or there. Then late game there's some terminology that I think has a few different phrases used. One is intentional, but I didn't think some of the others were.

Guessing they give enough xp to provide a level up, that's how they work in Cold Steel. Haven't used them though.

Pretty much, yeah. You're forced to use people outside of your A-team from time to time (like in the side stories), but as long as they're decently equipped there's no real issue.

I haven't really been clear about it, but I'm actually really enjoying this game! It's a situation where I can't believe just how many hours I've put in already, because it seems like so much less. If this is supposed to be the less good game in the Ys and Trails "family, then I'm certainly interested on Ys VIII whenever it goes on sale, and am very much keeping my fingers crossed for those PS4 ports of the Trails games to come stateside.

Rion is pretty great yeah. I would spam her aerial skill and destroy things. Still played as Sora most of the time because she felt like she played the fastest.

I had Kou there in place of Asuka since he's usually required but that was basically my team too (and Asuka was part of the team before Rion.)

I think mine was Kou/Asuka/Rion whenever it was convenient, yeah. Sometimes changed it up to get elemental bonuses.
