The Bean is cool but a bit overhyped IMO.
Same for the deep dish, although it is fucking amazing. Not the same overhype as the Bean, its delicious. Portillo's is amazing as well. Killer ribs. I lived in Chicago for 20 yrs of my life, there is lots to do there. Navy Pier is pretty fun too. --- Working in a team is great! It always helps to have someone else to blame. ... Museums are chill. Would recommend the Art variety. The other kinds don't present many unique features to Chicago. Definitely take LSD at some point. Best views around. Bean is good. Navy Pier is plain old fun, nothing wild, though. As far as Portillo's goes, it doesn't matter which one you hit. They're pretty uniform from one location to the next. Hot dogs and Italian beefs are the stand-outs there, maybe a chocolate cake shake. Pizza is a must, but there are so many kinds. As far as downtown pizza goes, Gino's East is really good. All in all, there's no wrong way to experience a new destination. Check out whatever looks cool and enjoy.
