I mean, if you and your people innocent, and you're all being: denied rights, falsely imprisoned, abused, killed, etc., what do you do? peaceful protest doesn't work when your oppressors don't care about peace

Okay I found the part I was talking about. It's a pretty long section actually but I think this is aimed at more than one group.

It's partially aimed at the far right in the US and Europe, but I think it's also aimed at the current racist situation in South Africa and the rejection of white people, Western ideas, etc.

It starts at about 3:08:20 to about 3:16:40 or so, but the quote I was referring to earlier starts at 3:16:09

"it's not justice if now you're on top, so now I'm going to do the same thing that those folks were doing to me, now I'm gonna do it to you, that's not justice. I detest racialism, he said, when it comes from a black man or a white man."

I am quite confident this was a veiled swipe at the current racist policies in South Africa.

He also says something earlier at about 3:13:13

"It is a truth that it is incompatible with any form of discrimination based on race, or religion, or gender, or sexual orientation, and it is a truth, that by the way, that when embraced, actually delivers practical benefits since it ensures that a society can draw upon the talents and energy and skill of all its people."

I think that is partially directed at the Black Economic Empowerment programs in South Africa that strictly classify people based on race and try to force employers to keep their employees' demographic makeup very close to the overall population. The ultimate effect is that whites and even other minorities like coloureds that haven't been as historically disadvantaged as the blacks are very difficult to hire.

Also I think it was mainly his wife who was doing the terrorist stuff... he was in jail during most of that time period.

if you and your people have suffered every abuse and indignity for generations, and it doesn't look like there's any end in sight, and you feel that non violent protest can work, then all the best. there were many South Africans were inspired by MLK, iirc, and protested peacefully

history has also shown that violent rebellion works, too. there wouldn't be a US without it.
