It's not just the 80s that's getting rebooted, now we're getting the 90s. Soon enough we'll get reboots of 2000s stuff, and then reboots of things from last year.

Yeah, I remember back in the 60s they were rebooting things from the 30s like the Ten Commandments. And in the 90s we were rebooting things from the 60s like That Darn Cat. I'm glad you realize that there's a cycle.

90s charm was integral in the first few seasons of buffy, but i think its messages of growing up and the trials and tribulations of life can easily translate. the question is whether they can recreate the wit and cattiness in a story that will allow itself to be small and long-running - story arcs would marinate for multiple seasons before maturing.

skeptical about its success. i won't watch it live but will probably check it out after season 1 finishes.

Yeah I think that like....well basically you'd need Joss to not be involved.

This has to ultimately be reconstructed as a product of the 20teens and not try to recapture 90s nerd culture.

Giles was definitely the weakest unless you are counting willow's girlfriend.

...Anthony Stewart Head is possibly the best of all the main cast.

And I could get behind Amber Benson being weaker but I wasn't counting her as "main cast".

I think SMG is a weak actress in general but she OWNED the Buffy role. To say she was weak in that role is just really out to lunch. She's why the show is so great.

Giles is also a great actor. What strange opinions we have here.

I think this will probably suck but who knows, maybe it'll turn out to be a gem. I expect it to try to blaze it's own trail and do something unique rather than just retread the original though. It's nice to have Joss attached to add some of his charm but I hope he's not too involved. He made a lot of seasons of this show in his prime and I don't think something new would benefit by being "his vision"

I ranked them in the order of how good they were and whether I felt other actors and actresses could have pulled the roles off as well.

Like, I feel the Giles actor was very replaceable. I think the Xander actor was the least replaceable followed by Buffy.
