Humanities Professor.

A human dishwasher is already obsolete.

I have two degrees in liberal arts and humantees.

Like, what is with stem and votech folks obession with the things we do? I see the value, easily, in those professions.

Why is it so hard for them to figure out the values os studying art, lit, history, philosphy, culture and so on?

Hmm, this set up could go a few ways. Im guessing TC is going for the "we all are important to the big picture regardless of how small our role feels". Good job LaS, you went positive this post. You earned the right to be an asshole the next 10 posts.

Humanities professors are very important at suckering students out of tens of thousands of dollars and providing nothing of value in return

I'm a dishwasher currently, and it is roughly reflective of my capabilities to function within society. But I also want to be a prof, or at least write articles for journals- but does the world really need another mediocre theorist?

Oh shit. Personal topic wasn't even on my radar.

Life is too short to worry about the bolded. You gotta do what interest you and say fuck the odds or you end up sitting in a chair watching Netflix for the bulk of your day like me. Would you rather feel mediocre at something you're interested in or do something you have no passion for probably making you mediocre at best anyway? How old are you?

The correct answer is that it depends on the current supply/demand for each job.

If there is a shortage of dishwashers but not humanities professors, then dishwashers.

If there is a shortage of humanities professors but not dishwashers, then humanities professors.

I'm 27, so it's not like I really have the benefit of time. I know the best advice in life is 'do what makes you happy as long as it's healthy', I guess my worry is just whether committing to 7-10 years of school is healthy at this point, or just me trying to pursue a vanity.
