Every actor can and would play it similarly but with their own twist. If Smith went in trying to redo what Williams did it would be terrible. He looks ridiculous, but I'd already lost interest in this movie when they gave Jasmine a white fiancee. I don't need a designated character to identify with; especially when his only purpose is to lose the girl to the protagonist. Aladdin's one of the most relatable characters in any Disney movie.
