Not really. I plan on getting it eventually, but it won't be a day one buy for me. They really should have thrown in a KH3 in the previous generation instead of so many spin-offs, and had this one coming out be KH4. That would have been more engaging than having to binge a collection eight years later to understand the convoluted plot.

yeah. and i really liked it cuz it was final fantasy and disney! but mostly a cross over of final fantasy characters!

No. If it took 12 years to make it was probably in development hell. Also I never played the side titles and the story is confusing af. I have no desire to play a bunch of other games to understand that garbage.

Because it's a series I originally loved that arguably elevated the concept of fanfiction, before it rapidly and irredeemably devolved into regular fanfiction. Among other reasons that I won't really get into because I really have lost all love for the franchise.

So I take that back, I guess I don't really have a strong stake in seeing KH3 bomb apart from a detached sense of catharsis. On the other hand I should have been more invested in seeing '76 bomb, since I have a more vested interest in the future of the Fallout and ES series. KH, FF and Squeenix have been lost causes for awhile now.

Nah. I never got into Kingdom Hearts anyways, only really liked BBS but I also skipped 2. My future roommate is getting it though so I'll prolly just play his copy to try it out.

I really wish it just stuck with Final Fantasy/SquarexDisney and not pull this Organization XIII shit. Even FF games aren't this convoluted, be basic and give us what we want: amazingly detailed worlds, great combat, and our favorite characters showing up and being their badass selves.

It's been 12 years since KH2 came out, but it's only been in production since 2013. 5 years is fine.

As far as the plot goes, I'm sure there will be synopses for past games within KH3's journal. There were in Dream Drop Distance as well.

That's just dumb naming then. You have a game called 1, 2, and 3, it only makes sense that games that don't follow that rule wouldn't be a part of the main story as heavily.

yeah they could have named the games better. but they arent spinoffs.
its similar to the MCU. you have the main Avengers movies, and you have movies for the individual heroes but none of them are spinoffs. although in KH its simpler cause (with the exception of bbs) you have mostly the same cast

If it looks like a spinoff, sounds like a spinoff, plays like a spinoff, and is marketed like a spinoff, it is no one's fault other than the developers that it is perceived as a spinoff. Squeenix chose to let Nomura slap a black leather longcoat on everything that moves and scatter the story over half a dozen side games instead of getting off their asses and keeping the numbered series moving, and I think they'll be in for a rude awakening when they expect the non-hardcore fanbase to sit through a recap vid and plug themselves back into the story; this is even worse imo than FF XIII expecting you to care about the plot by reading a bunch of menu-based cliff notes to get immersed in the narrative when it can't be bothered to weave exposition naturally. KH3 should at the very least get critically savaged for the hole it's dug itself into; I guess I don't wish financial failure on the game, but if it happened, it would be deserved.
