(Talking about legally purchased content, mods.)

Do you play on PC, console, handheld or what?

I go back and forth between handhelds and a console hooked up to an old CRT TV. I can't stand filtered 8/16-bit graphics. It just looks gross. Unfiltered on a digital display looks pretty bad too and some of the graphics effects don't work right. Unfiltered is much less of an issue on handhelds so I usually just play that way for convenience.

I've never really noticed any problems, what kind of graphical effects don't work right?

Certain types of transparency and blurring effects only work on CRTs due to the way pixel meshes blur on them. Games were designed with this in mind before true transparency was a thing. On digital displays you just see the pixel mesh.

Sega's cool though because they sell their games on Steam for like $2/each.

That's true plus they did have those classics released on Switch and PS4 at least, but when they do that stupid third party Genesis thing I keep seeing in the stores....

Just no.

The numerous Genesis knock-offs make more sense if you know about the whole Brazil thing. There was a video where someone explained it in detail, but basically Brazil didn't allow consoles to be sold unless they were manufactured there, so Sega just licensed it to some Brazilian company and they started churning them out.

On my phone with Dualshock 4 for action oriented titles, on screen controls for slower titles like srpgs. Shinobi 3 looks as good as I remember it. I'm using lcd filter to emulate gba's screen. Then 2x upscale on psp and ps1. Kinda limited on my NDS cause the newest version hasn't been cracked yet.

Usually I just play SNES games through home brew on my wii with a GameCube controller.

Not really a fan of being on a laptop or desktop to play games.

Not an optimal set up but easy and I dont care enough to buy a solid gaming pc and controller adapters to have a good set up in my living room.

If you want to play SNES games with something similar to a real SNES controller, you can always hook a laptop to your TV with HDMI and use an iBuffalo SNES USB controller. Extremely close to the real thing, only difference is that it's lighter.

I tried using Ultra 64 in my PC and was blown away at how it actually enhances the graphics and replayed almost my favorites.

Never tried the Classic systems yet but definitely will buy the N64 one if it comes out.

i'm sure this has to do with their lack of their own platform to promote xd.

seriously, sega is proof that gamers benefit the most with less superfluous platforms out there.

imagine if sega were still in the game and it would be a split between xbone, ps4, NS and say the sega neptune >_>

right now it would probably mean no yakuza/sonic/valkyria/persona etc. on non-sega platforms.

Touch screen emulation is nut sacks. So PC.

I agree with the touch controls but get a Bluetooth controller and hook it up to your phone and you're all set.

They also make bluetooth controller cases/shells for phones. Mapping the touch screen to an external controller is pretty taint though. I'd rather just go with a dedicated handheld.
