LMAO why am I not surprised? Xeno fans are nothing but vocal about how great the series is. When it comes time to support you'll find them no where. Sadly Megaman fans are like this as well.

The first one sold well because it was early in the ps2 lifespan. But incidentally, people in the west who weren't rpg fans complained about the slow battle system also being too simple, as well as the anime style for the game. So when the second game came out it had changes catered to those complaints... By people who never intended to buy a sequel. And it hurt sales of the second game massively. Same with the third which was made to please Japanese players but didn't get back some of the people who gave up on the series after the second installment.

True enough, it's also a namdai game, and was super niche. Though I guess they did pick the gu series instead of the imoq ones, so they actually had a chance to sell.

As someone who has actually played the Xenosaga trilogy, trust me guys you're not missing much.

That dude tried to get his Xeno concept off the ground like 2 or 3 times and failed every time. He should have just done 1 complete game instead of being overly ambitious which ending up giving us only half a game every time.

The Xenoblade series is doing pretty well, actually.

Xenoblade 1 is a fantastic game. I can't say enough good things about it, what a magnificent game.

But it's really only a spiritual successor to the Xeno name and not in the way you'd think. I still remember the original title for the game back when it was in development as Monado: Beginning of the World which admittedly is kind of a spoiler, considering.

i played the first two and tbh i don't even know why. i've never liked weeb shit. i guess i didn't realize at the time just how weeby they were. i actually somewhat enjoyed the first one. but the second one kinda sucked. i never even wanted to play the third one.

The third was probably the funnest with combat but the scenes turning to the text box kind instead of fmv style really hurt it some.

That doesn't appear to be what happened here though. Fans were not given an opportunity to support, instead the devs decided there was not enough interest to realistically turn a profit.

Then Xenoblade 2 came out and I was even more crestfallen. Where the hell was the amazing voice acting, the Ivalice-level characters and likability? Even the silliest character, the Nopons, were more endearing than what I saw in Xenoblade 2. I was legit disappointed at how it shared almost nothing from 1. How do you go from the likes of Shulk and Dunban to... that?

Was really disappointed.

Yeah, it's fair. Xenoblade 2 is overall weaker than the first game but it's really addicting to play when the combat gets good. I do hope the next Xenoblade (X2 or 3) is better.

If they got saga and gears, they could fibally finish their compilation.

Basically saga is kinda a prequel to gears.
They couldn't make it a hard prequel cause of rights but gears is like episode 6 if they did the full episodes they wanted to do with saga.

I think the issues with MOTHER 3 were:

1. It released in Japan on the GBA in 2006, two years after the DS hit the market. The series is already niche as it is, so attempting a release like that on a platform way past its prime would have been foolish for anything except Mario or Pokemon.
2. As mentioned, the series is pretty niche, especially outside of Japan back then. EarthBound flopped in the US (no thanks to NoA's shoddy marketing, but still), and didn't even release in Europe until 2013, so even with the popularity boost the series got with Smash, NoA and/or NCL probably didn't think it was worth the hassle, especially since, with the translation/localization needed, it may not have hit the Western markets until 2007.
3. Some of the content may have been deemed offensive for Western audiences. Stuff like the scene where Lucas learns how to use PSI, and the part where the party gets high on island mushrooms. Not helped by the fact that two party members (Lucas and Kumatora) are children.
4. There may be legal issues with the music used, especially the tracks sampled from existing sources.

The issue is that its focus was on an entirely open world with a custom character as the main player character, instead of having an in-depth story. So it's not even really like Xenogears or saga, it's definitely its own thing.

3 is still one of the most fun JRPGS of thst era, and the best in the series imo. 1 is fantastic too.

2 is horrible on levels one cannot fathom.
