its insane to me that the world, even the first world country i live in, once had laws that said "your skin is too dark, that means you don't matter"....like....WHY...and that same shit still exists today on a smaller scale. Me, being a person with darker skin, experiences it sometimes too....its crazy.

Yeah. While it is not law anymore, many people still think in those terms and treat you accordingly.

you would think a modern society would outcast those who think that way...But unfortunately, if someone calls me out because of the color of my skin, i get scolded for calling them out back because "FREE SPEECH! DIFFERENT OPINIONS"...Nah bitch, if you don't hire me, or don't want to date me or just flat out hate me because i was born with more pigment....you're the wrong one, not me.

Freedom of speech should be for things like how we run out country and who you want to vote for, it shouldn't be for stuff like hate speech. I absolutely never understood that. And yeah most of the people who use the "freedom of speech" card are already putting a giant "I'm racist" sign on their backs. It's like pleading the 5th.

Hating people just because of their skin color? They're wrong, yeah. But not wanting to date? Well, that's their opinion, and they most certainly aren't wrong.

People simply have preferences. Some people like blondes, some people like brunettes, some people like blue eyes, some people like fair skin, some people like overweight people. There are so many things that a person might find attractive/unattractive, and skin color is one of them. Don't pretend that it's a one way street either. There are black people who won't date whites. And since people can't choose who they're attracted to, you honestly shouldn't blame them for not wanting to date someone who has a certain skin color. Blame them when they have prejudices against it.

I think it's that people today compared to the 2000s are more vocal in calling out racism, rather than being passive about it, and that's caused a lot of racists to be upset and more blatant about it.

Ive also heard this. Although this seems more bigoted than saying you dont find dark skin attractive, since, as many people will use as a retort, you havent seen every single person of that race in the world. Whereas I can certainly understand people not liking a physical attribute. I mean I dont like overweight chicks.

Should we just be open to dating anyone and everyone because we dont want to offend them? The concept of dating and getting rejected is offensive at its core. Thats just reality and people need to learn to deal

In my experience, a lot of the time it is articulated by people trying to justify their racism, but anyway, it's also the way people say it. On dating sites they feel the need to write "NO BLACK PEOPLE" on their profile. Like, no matter how great of a person you could potentially be, you're already written off.

I guess I just think of things differently, I don't believe in writing off groups consisting of millions and billions of people.
