Not because a Deadpool movie need a R rating for it to be good (I completely disagree with that), but because the previous two films were R rated, so might as well keep it consistent at this point.
On a call with investors, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger said that Disney will continue to make R-rated Deadpool movies and other adult-oriented Marveladventures after it absorbs much of Fox.

Why are people acting like Disney is gonna neuter Deadpool? They knew what to do with Daredevil, Punisher, and the other Defenders by putting them on Netflix.

I can't imagine they'll suddenly just make Deadpool kid-friendly.

They also invested money into the new Star Wars trilogy, and from what I've been told, only one of those was actually worth watching. Mind you, the Mandalorian is doing well for itself, so there is hope.
