I don't see the point in getting mad over the name, considering you can still find carbonated lemonade (I know a place that makes it with Sprite).

What's more concerning is that evidently the UK only has one variant available instead of both, kind of like how the US has both scones and biscuits while the UK only has scones.

I have traveled to every continent and many countries and lemonade is a pretty popular drink all over the world, but Europe is the only place I got that weird sprite stuff instead of a lemon squeeze concoction

my favorite was "Jugo" in south america, it's like an Orange Julius shake thing

Non-English countries use non-English words?

Holy shit, what a revelation!

So south American countries tend to speak Spanish or Portuguese

Spanish: limonada

Portuguese: limonada

limonada =\= jugo

American lemonade is lemonade, in the same way that a lemon flavoured carbonated beverage is also lemonade.

It would be a parlous state of affairs if, in the English language, a word could not be ascribed to multiple meanings. You dig?

As a New Zealander I probably default to thinking of it as being carbonated, but arguably if it is anyone's fault it'd be the Cocacola company's because of Sprite and Schweppes (the distributor of Schweppes is Coke here, apparently Pepsi in the US) which is probably quite ironic considering the subject matter of this topic. I feel like I have only ever had non carbonated lemonade once when I was a child and it was a jarring experience as it subverted expectations and probably used a lot more actual lemons so was way more sour than I expected.

Yeah you definitely gotta add the right amount of sugar for it to be tasty and refreshing.

Pretty sure it is

It's both

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemonade

Most lemonade varieties can be separated into two distinct types: cloudy and clear; each is known simply as "lemonade" (or a cognate) in countries where dominant.[2][self-published source?] Cloudy lemonade, generally found in North America and South Asia, is traditionally a homemade drink using lemon juice, water, and a sweetener such as cane sugar, a simple syrup (white sugar and water) or honey.[3] In the United Kingdom and Australia, clear lemonade, which is typically also carbonated, dominates

In America, non-carbonated lemonade is the default, but sparkling is available as well, if not quite as common, especially since most people just add water to a mix to get their lemonade. Then there's also that alcoholic "hard" lemonade shit.
