I'm used to $4 matinee tickets. Since I moved I switched over to a place with $6 Tuesday tickets because I can walk there...matinees are like $10 there so I don't go as often. Usually walk to the redbox to grab a $0-1 movie.

I guess it's a good deal for families who would otherwise be paying $60 to go to the theater...but if I'm not getting the theater experience I'll save 95% of the cost and just be six months behind in the film world.

I think some movies that would've been released in theatres are doing streaming, but marked-up. They're assuming you'll watch it with the family or something.

It's actually really interesting, because depending on the success of this, it may change the future of cinema.

I honestly didn't think there was anyone who really wanted to watch Scoob.

The premise sounds bad and the trailer looked bad.

Or I could wait a few months, use a redbox code, and pay $1 like I mentioned earlier.

Or wait like a year and get them at the library, having a constant influx of new movies to watch for free.

Theres cheap, legal and moral ways watch movies, its just shitty to pirate them because you have to be on the bleeding edge of movie releases.

For $20 I'd... not even

For $16 I could go to the limited seating in the theatre, they're allowing half capacity... and that even covers coke and popcorn

Yeah. I agree. I'd rather wait. Plus, I might not have to wait long since the base theater sometimes gets shows to show there pretty early. And it's free!

That would kind of suck, I guess...

Right?

Whether or not someone finds it worth it, the theater experience is at least different from the home one.

If I'm watching it at home I'm either waiting for it on a service or owning it for that kind of money....

You have to keep in mind that some people save money paying $20 to watch it, if you have a wife+2 kids then even if you don't let them have any snacks or drinks at a theater you are looking at spending over $20 just to take the full family.

It sucks for single people living alone but that is how their pricing model is based.

Yeah. It was mentioned in this topic, and Far-Queue mentioned that in another topic. Though, it still sucks a pay as much as the DVD cost, but not own it. Plus, since it's at home, it's like buying a DVD that you can't keep...

I think the mantinee in my area is up to like $7, in addition to the usual silly restrictions.

Generally speaking, I can't think of anything I ever want to see so urgently that I have to watch it in theaters or well in advance. I'd rather just wait to buy it or watch it on a streaming service.

As for the new Scooby, we've had the origin redone so many times that I just don't see the point any more. Plus it invalidates a Pup Named Scooby Doo, which is a sin.

Yeah. I think this is what kills it for me the most... Though, I'd probably watch if it was free. But I don't wanna pay for it...

I watched it... And yes, it's really bad.
Probably one of the worst Scooby Doo related things in years.

It's not even a Scooby Doo movie, it's more of a Hanna-Barbera multiverse movie, with a huge focus on Blue Falcon.

Hanna-Barbera late to the multiverse expanded universe thing. I guess they didn't know when nearly all of them except the MCU failed.

I always saw Scooby Doo like this, anyway... Sort of, at least... Because of all the different versions, set in different times, the people they meet, and stuff like that. It always seemed like multiple versions, anyway...

Yeah Scooby is that way I just mean tying it to all Hanna Barbera characters. Shit there was a recent Film Theory about it that goes into great detail about the Scooby universe.
