Kinda rubs me wrong calling suicide "passing away". I feel like it's disrespectful to the struggle they were obviously going through.

Is stardom a wrestling thing? Why are they blaming social media? Was she getting a lot of harassment?

Damn. I saw her troubling posts earlier today but last I heard friends of hers said she was doing alright. Now this. Apparently she was on some reality show called Terrace House and fandom of that show were bullying her relentlessly.

Japanese fans of some stupid reality show were harassing her savagely over some argument on the show:

Typical reality show stuff that reasonable people know is played up for the cameras but I guess the Japanese fandoms of things don't? I dunno it's insane.

I saw her trending then looked at some threads showing her troubling posts and people being extremely concerned and hoping she was ok, now I feel sick to my stomach. This is so fuckin sad.

No, they don't. For example, idols basically can't have any kind of relationship because fans of idols assume by default that they must be single so they can be potentially "attainable". They need this fantasy that their idol could possibly be available and won over by them.

I watched a documentary about idols on Netflix not long ago, Tokyo Idols. That stuff seems so incredibly weird to me, I put it on not intending to pay that much attention to it but it had a serious train wreck effect where I just couldn't stop watching and waiting to see how much weirder it was going to get.

She posted fairly graphic pics of her harming herself before she died. It's awful that no matter how many people are bullied to death others see no harm in piling on with the attacks knowing full well what can happen.

maybe this story will be what causes change in the Japanese Idol industry

if fans see what happened and understand why it happened, they will change and stop harassing people

Terrace House in general is pretty real I think. They have some directions but I think it's mostly just people there semi-putting on a show but actually going through their life with any number of tenants that come and go.

Sadly since they're real, their interaction with their fans is mostly real too. Japanese harassment online tends to be far more severe than what we're used to here. Their country is far smaller and opens more possibility for stalking, not to mention overly passive cops.

Depression is no joke.

All the guys who go "We all get depressed! You're just weak! cheer up! fuck you!" are assholes who either don't know or pretend not to know they are causing people immense harm.

Depression can be as debilitating as fatal physical diseases. Things like standing up, going outside, talking to people can be as diffcult and mentally/emotionally/physically draining as running a marathon.

Just because you haven't experienced it doesn't make it not real or not serious.

I put that through google translate

I was able to notice her tweet right away because it was afternoon in the United States by the time difference (midnight in Japan time) and I called Jungle Screamer and Rossi Ogawa with Io immediately.
Kyona went with all her might.
However
I didn't make it in time
