Before Resident Evil Revelations they were complete dookie. Terrible cameras, terrible controls.

Resident Evil Revelations, Revelations 2, Resident Evil 7, and Resident Evil 2 Remake are great though...Resident Evil 3 Remake is okay.

Revelations is great, most certainly my favourite, but the earlier games were fine, other than the utterly terrible controls that stuff around too long.

Revelations was kinda eh, although I liked Mercs mode. The only RE game I really loved was RE:UC, but that's a lightgun game.

resident evil 4 for the wii had good controls

I actually enjoyed 5,6, but I played with kimbo. And we were fucking about most of it.

4 was the most fun to play, even though I fucking hate escort missions.

Revelations 1 really suffers from its episodic approach. It works for Rev2 because of the linear environments and time skips that add to the mystery, but Rev1 really didn't need such frequent cutaways from the main story. I enjoyed the twist of a second ship but that only got one cutaway anyways which could've stayed, the rest needed to go. The ship is one big map, it didn't need chapters to break it up. You can't even chapter select! There's also no reason the game couldn't be coop.

I also really hate the idea of Terragregia. A floating, self sufficient city that started construction on 1993, then got destroyed by freaking satellite solar beams in 2004? I like Resident Evil's reality-grounded roots, this is just way too detached from the real world.

Raid mode loses purpose once you beat Ghost Ship. Sure you can keep grinding to get stronger but...why? I also hate Ghost Ship's complete lack of resources, it should be the most fun map because of complete open exploration but instead it's gatekept by requiring hard to acquire mods and encourages linear play to conserve what little you have and because you get the most rewards at the end. It just sucks.

Resident Evil 4 was my favorite, by far.

Wasn't crazy about any of the others, but not bad.

Game dev fired for bad controls in a 20 year old game, apologized profusely.

It would mirror a lot of the retroactive Twitter outrage mob cancel culture shenanigans these days...

How does the newer ones compared to Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5? I have only played RE5 and could not get into RE4 cause of the controls. To my understanding RE4 or RE5 was when the series shifted to more of a shooter and less of a horror survival. Are the newer ones more true to the earlier RE games or follow the RE5+ trend?

Cant be more than me. I beat it hundreds of time, and would just speed run it.

Even after beating it dozens of times I decided to forego my middle school prom to beat AGAIN. My friends were pissed. But wtf is a middle school prom anyway.

Just say RE 7 and no it wasnt, it was tense for the first section then becomes silly when you Duel your wife with a chainsaw and reattach limbs with silly juice. The game never recovers from that point it's just wacky mess later.

You're factually wrong. Despite never playing the OG 1-3 I know they are hailed as been great games and I did watch my bro play some of them. Even if you don't like them they are not "dookie". I only started playing Resident Evil from Resident Evil 4. Even then I haven't played 6, RE 2 remake and Re 3 remake. I enjoyed 4 the most but 7 was great too.
