Mac Arrowny 08/28/20 6:30:31 PM #310:	Finished watching what's out of My Hero Academia. Mostly pretty disappointed in this show. I was expecting some awesome fights, but the animation really wasn't anything special for how much people went on about it - none of the seasons looked particularly good. That left the story and characters to carry the show, but those weren't too special either. The lack of creativity with the powers was also a shame (though part of this probably came from watching this shortly after reading Worm, which is infinitely more creative with its powers and their uses). Some of the main characters were solid, but they didn't stand out for the most part. Unfortunately, the villains sucked too, particularly Shigaraki and the League of Villains. They're a boring group with uninteresting motivations, and Shigaraki himself was the worst character in the show. There were a few good things that helped carry the show and made me stick with it. The main bright spot was the relationship between All Might and Deku. Everything in the first two seasons that focused on this was great, and carried an emotional punch that the rest of the show lacked. All Might's pretty much always a fantastic character, so it's a shame he got less important after S2, aside from his amazing fight in S3. Stain's arc in S2 was also great, though the aftereffects of it were dumb (the heroes really should've told everyone they saw him fighting against the League of Villains... they even had footage of it). Overhaul started out as a fun villain, but his arc got less interesting as it progressed - would've been more entertaining to see him go all out fighting the League or something. I was also glad the show ended with a bang. Gentle Criminal was somehow the best villain on the show by a long shot, being both incredibly funny and somehow having a more compelling serious backstory than any of the villains do. I wasn't particularly into the show at first, but somewhere along the way the characters grew on me and it did become mostly enjoyable. I don't really like Nenecchi much, but everyone else is solid. Also digging these yuri undertones because of course I would.
