Been watching InuYasha in preparation for the sequel series next month. Finished the main series over the weekend and started Final Act, which I had not seen before. The change in pacing is jarring. I understand that the original gets criticized for being slow, but this breakneck pace is not enjoyable.

I'd actually started my rewatch before the sequel was announced, but was really taking my time. I figured I should finish it before Yashahime. Also going to try to watch the first two seasons of Is the Order a Rabbit, but if I don't care for it, I'll rewatch Strike Witches.

I honestly watched all of Inuyasha Final Act back then despite only watching several random episodes of the original anime on adult swim whenever I caught it.

Eh, it was enough to get an idea of what was going on in Final Act.

Yoh is now voiced by Yoko Hikasa, but Amidamaru, Anna, and Hao kept their original voices. I guess Yoh's original voice is no longer active.

Also watched the 3rd Made in Abyss movie last night.

Definitely a good movie, though I feel I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the TV series itself. That probably depends a bit on why you're watching the series and what exactly you're expecting to get out of it though. I can't exactly point to any "problems" with the movie, other than maybe that Prushka could have had a bit more time for development. (Though actually typing this out made me think...a lot of her development happens retroactively in this long flashback at the very end of the movie which just felt weird and out of place. I don't know how else to do it but the timing of that scene definitely felt wrong.)

In any case, I guess if I were to summarize my thoughts as a whole...what's compelling to me about the Made in Abyss series is the Abyss itself--what it's nature is, what's inside it, and what about it captivates people. This arc of the story feels less like a story about the Abyss and more like a story about Bondrewd, which is probably why I'm not as engaged by it. Whereas I think most of the content I'm looking forward to in the series has likely been relegated to whatever comes next. Bondrewd himself is good though--both as a character and when we get to see him in action--and all the confrontations with him are definitely awesome. It was definitely neat to see the series take on more of an action aspect, even though admittedly they probably go a bit overboard with it in the finale. I also don't think I'd like that as a permanent thing, though the nature of the story requires that there be some high-action segments and I think that's fine.

Just finished the show. Got a bit cliche at the end, and it frantically wound things up super quick-like, but all in all a reasonable experience. Not a bad watch for an original anime.

Beated SAO: Alicization and War of the Underworld. Alicization was mostly pretty good, other than some dumb stuff, but WotU not so much. Worst SAO arc. It did have real nice animation though. Definitely way above something like MHA.

Moved on to Deca-Dence. Wasn't expecting another VRMMO anime. One question - the robots are called cyborgs. Is that just a mistranslation, or are they actually augmented humans?

I never finished War of the Underworld, but I pretty much agree based on what I saw. Alicization was overall pretty solid, but I stopped watching War of the Underworld within like 5 or 6 episodes and have no desire to ever continue. I don't know if I'd quite call it the worst arc, but that might also just be because I bailed out early.
