The new realistic ones are shitty unless they have some sort of arcade mode. Tiger Woods 2010 was the last one I could even stand to play (NBA Live is also at its pinnacle in 2010).

But there is Hots Shots and Mario Golf 64, PS4 has Everybody's Golf which is basically Hot Shots but with an RPG like progression system. Hots Shots/Everybody's Golf are good but the difficulty also ramps up in those games as you progress.

I really liked Waialae Country Club: True Golf Classics for N64. Monkey Golf from Super Monkey Ball and Wii Sports Golf are quite good. I'm also a fan of Kirby's Dream Course.

I love Hot Shots Golf. It's very relaxing to play and unwind. I only play the early courses, the later ones get too crazy for me.

You act like that is an insult.

Most "hardcore gamers" I've met I do not envy their lifestyle.

I like all of them but the more realistic ones are best. You can cheese the simple ones.

First golf game I ever played was Jack Nicklaus golf. Dunno the version but it was in the mid 90s on pc.

I know St Andrews like the back of my hand because of that game.

He might play a fishing game too. He just doesn't really know how to play video games, he has very good motor skills/hand to eye coordination but a video game controller is still not natural to him.

It had a little fishing rod holder with a reel to reel in the fish so he literally only had to learn how to start the game.

I just remember that night because it was a complete role reversal.

I had some fun with a few waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back on Windows 97.

We actually had Windows 97. Most people remember this as a hoax, and maybe it was, but I definitely remember seeing the Windows 97 splash screen when you would boot up. And it had stuff like this little guy on shutdown who would say "It is now REALLY safe to turn off your computer." I remember it vividly. Now whether my dad got tricked into buying a fake OS, maybe a 95 somebody hacked and threw a skin on, I don't know, but our PC definitely had Windows 97.

Anyway.

There were two golf-related games I used to play on this PC. One was Geogolf, an edutainment mini golf game that despite being clearly edutainment (we even knew this at the time) was surprisingly fun. You would give it an angle, in multiples of 5 degrees, and a power level and take your stroke. My sister and I played the hell out of it. There were only 18 holes, all of them perfectly flat, but we played them over and over until we had memorized the exact angle that would get you a hole-in-one. There was no reason not to go full power; if the ball touched the hole, it went in.

There was another game that I don't remember the title of, which was a pretty cookoe-cutter camera-behind-the-golfer golf game with full-size courses, wind effects, etc. We played that one a lot too. It was p fun but not a lot of explaining to do.

came to say this. it's really fun for an indie rpg golf game. mario golf is fun. wii sports golf is still fun to go back to.

i don't really play any sim golfing games anymore. most i'll do is play it in like gta 5 and games that have it added in there. that gets me enough of a fix.

It's great as a mini-game but pretty basic and mediocre if you compare it to actual golf games.

If you use the punch shot on every approach shot with crosswind and set it to land about 10 yards before the hole you only have to adjust a yard or two to the side. Way more accurate than the actual approach shot.

Yep I got the PGA tour one for free on Xbox games with Gold. Those games piss me off.

I cant move an anolog stick in perfect rhythm down then up and have it completely straight. Tiger Woods 2013 and Golf Club both require that.

I too can probably get a better score playing real golf and I'm like a 25 handicap on a good day.

I had to dig to find the name of the free Win95 one, it was Fuji Golf.

I remember loading the OG MS golf on a 486 with multiple 5 1/2 inch floppies. Makes me feel kinda old.

I also used to have a Golden Tee plug in system that me and my friends played the hell out of about 10 years ago but it just straight up would not power up one day.

Keep suggestions coming, I know I gotta try NeoGeo's golf because I love NeoGeo's presentation.

Was Golden Tee the one that you'd see in bars as a coin-op game?

That was always fun.

Yes. I watched a documentary once about Golden Tee. They have tournaments and shit for it and people fight constantly for high scores.
