I remember back in the day, i.e. the 1990s, he was considered a weak character. What about now? In the later games, and also looking back? Personally, I'm on the fence. His completely lack of kick moves, although realistic, is pretty annoying. His charges forward are good, though, and I suppose he has a lot of attack power. I dunno. He's one of the bosses. How bad can he be?

Balrog was not weak in the 90s lol. He was the 3rd best character in Super Turbo.

Balrog was top-tier in SFV S2 because of his unstoppable robbery factor. He's toned down now, but still a big threat.

This. Boxer's range and power always kept him somewhat relevant at the least.

Weak character? He was the easiest of the four boss fights in Street Fighter II, but he still wasn't somebody to take your eye off of. On top of that, a player could cut through the competition pretty easily if they were playing as him. I guess most people just sucked at playing as him.

Redundant buttons and indefinite charge time on the turn-punch makes for fun times in bad player circles.
