Cannon didn't even get canceled. To be canceled you basically need to be professionally destroyed. Cannon is still fine. He's obviously lost some money over this but he's not Roseanne or something. Hell, Fox came out and flat out said that his job there is secure. As for seeing people supporting him? I don't use Twitter really so I have no fucking clue what people are saying there. However, I did check out the original podcast on Youtube before it was deleted and I saw a LOT of support for his views in that comment section. That melanin theory bullshit has more supporters than you'd think.

Whataboutism is usually saying something like "you can't criticize us doing something bad because other people or possibly you have also done something bad". It was popularized by the Soviet Union which instead of denying the crimes they committed would simply talk about bad things America or other places did. Now China does a similar thing. So for it to be whataboutism, in the traditional sense you would have to say something like: "white people also say bad things, so you can't comment on black people saying bad things". The key to whataboutism is it doesn't deny or even try to claim what was done wasn't bad, it just simply says other people are also bad, so you can't talk about it.

I get what you're saying but in no way should we as black people be happy that other black people are supporting racism. I had this girl on instagram telling me I can't be racist because we don't hold enough power to be racist... After that I just knew there was no reasoning with her, sounds like my boy that moved to egypt aftering joining the Black Hebrew religion. Couldn't argue with him either, but I guess he at least has the last laugh since america is shit right now.
