I'm struggling to articulate exceptions but a lot of guys get love for other stuff. it applies to women in other ways but there's definitely less of a safety net in society for men and I'd like that to change. If you are a man looking for a relationship with a woman then yes you are going to have to make some serious sacrifice one way or another. But I'm not sure that's what he's saying.

Depends on the perspective.

From a societal viewpoint, there's a reasonable argument that could be made for the sentiment, though it's far to simplified to be a general truth.

From an individual perspective, I suppose it really hinges on what kind of company one keeps, or is fortunate enough to have found, as well as emotional well-being and clarity of thought. I personally don't encounter this feeling in my day to day activities, but I'll admit that a general pressure to succeed has struck me with a similar feeling from time to time.

I always feel like these sentiments have a lot of projection behind them. The reason they feel like "no one cares about men" is because they don't care about anyone except for women who they're sexually attracted to.

There are plenty of men in my life whose well being I care about. I don't see my relationships with people as mostly transactional so I don't need a reason to care about a man or a woman besides that I like them as a person.

And tbh I would rather be cared about for being useful than "cared about" for being attractive.

On a base level, the tweet makes sense.

There are plenty of higher levels where that doesn't seem to apply.

That said, if there seems to be a lack of male achievement lately, I'd point out that it might feel that way due to the increased focus on female achievement in the past 30-40 years.

As for where men are clearly failing, I'm not so certain its that they're failing as it is they're either being blocked or men are subconsciously reacting to this sudden movement from men being needed to not needed. The catch being that before we were more needed than wanted and the lack of need is not being replaced by an equal input into the "want/desired" category while women are now seeming to benefit from not just "want" but "need"....so now subconsciously men are doing less because they don't feel anything to light that fire under them. Instead us men are on a large scale (not individually) trying to figure out how to be happy with the new position we find ourselves in society. So if no longer being the top earner and hard worker is a requirement, there's just...well, we get left figuring out what to do with ourselves.

At least, that's all at a first cursory glance. I'm sure there's a million ways to pick that apart.

Yet, they're probably higher up the Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs pyramid than some guy desperately seeking validation on twitter.

Yeah that dude has issues he needs to sort.

Either he has no love in his life, or he does and he's not recognizing it, or not accepting it as "enough" for his own personal self-affirmation. Regardless, it's all about his own perception.

Any man obsessed with achievement has an intense fear of his own inadequacy, on a metric that he has set for himself.

Now that may be exacerbated by the people around him (a parent, a sibling, a friend), but in the end, we'll always be our own worst critics, and you can either accept where you're not perfect, deny it, or fight against it.

Not sure it's a regional thing, I think there's more of a selection bias going on than that. I mean what's your basis for thinking men are obsessed with achievement?
