Watching cooking videos and it's like

SEELANTRO
BAYZIL
PAWSTAH

I also dislike how Americans construct sentences when making food words like it's some kind of serious engineering project

So next you need to configure your workstation, remember to optimize the orientation of your materials so that there is minimal movement between phase 1 and phase 2 of the water boiling step.

Why can't you just use normal words like the rest of us?

Eh cobber, fancy swinging me dat 'andful of coriander? Bing bang bong, be sure to give it a quick pokey stabby first, presuming you have a loicense?

Cilantro is because America uses the Spanish word for the herb, coriander, due to us bordering Mexico. I live in Arizona, all the Mexicans here call it cilantro

With the exception of W (which is a stupid name in and of itself), letters shouldn't have more than one sound in them.

D is its own goddamn letter, it doesn't belong there.

Its not just food words. Just random ass words they will say wrong.

Like "SQL" (a tech term).
You pronounce it by saying each letter (ess-que-ell)
Americans pronounce it "sequel"

Don't you lot only refer to one part of the plant as "cilantro" though, when in fact the Spanish word is for the entire thing?

in the US, cilantro refers to the leaves/stems and coriander refers to the seed.

but yeah culantro is just the spanish word for coriander sooo

Yeah, that's what I was getting at. Saying "it's what the Spanish call it" as the reason isn't really going to fly here.

See this is exactly it. The summary of our worlwide conquest around the globe and thousands of years of history can be summarised by a fatty, tumorous looking pastry you put next to roast beef, the least delicious kind of roast there is.

And you know what kills me? Most brits can't even cook a yorkshire pudding to save themselves. You know what it's like being british? Hearing the words "I've fucked up the yorkshires again" every weekend of your life since birth.

Btw there are a few british things I do enjoy and I'm coming down on yorkies pretty hard here but the thing is, it's hardly culinary magnificence is it? Like look at what mexicans do with food, or Japanese do with food, or Italians do with food, or southern pitmasters do with food. And then look at us, with our pale baked tumours.

Although now I'm wondering if any of the Irish pubs around here (of which there are a lot) would serve British food
