Sort of like the Mafia Definitive Edition Remake.

Same maps and missions (and radio!) redone in modern visuals with modern combat and controls. The map size would probably look more awkward with the bigger draw distance of modern tech though. But still I'd love it.

The map size would definitely be awkward, but I would be totally down for this. My biggest complaint about replaying the old games is how bad the controls are. VC and 3 don't even let you rotate the camera manually ffs

As long as they use the GTAIV map im down. Wish they would expand it to include Staten Island. Hell, just expand the map to include the mainland as well.

Nah I totally want the original map for full nostalgia.

I would like GTA Online to add all of the maps from GTAIV onwards though. So you'd have like;
- GTAV Los Santos
- GTAIV Liberty City
- Classic Liberty City
- Classic Vice City
- Classic San Andreas

When it first came out, I used to think San Andrea's map was HUGE. But getting older and seeing it, it really isn't that big >_> I still adore the map though.

Yeah the maps are way smaller than you'd remember. Which is why I think they'd all need to be remade at once in a kickass collection like the Activision remasters. Would still be insane value.

Would be a cool trick if you could fly to the other maps as an easter egg too.

Yeah I just replayed San Andreas on mobile and thought to myself about how small it is. We've been jaded by the gargantuan maps full of nothing we get nowadays.

Yeah I definitely am jaded a bit. I can barely remember the maps of any open world games. I need waypoints to guide me. None of it sinks in compared to the original GTA games to me.

San Andreas felt so huge because of the wide variety of different environments along with the most memorable set pieces and pedestrians in the series. SA has the perfect map size.

Hell, they keep """""updating""""" the games on steam and remove music everytime >_> It's the dumbest shit. That's why I just used a version downgrade program to make it v1.0. The steam version of San Andreas is awful and kind of unplayable with all the silly bugs it has.

I'm pretty sure they're still licensed because they're all still available to buy on digital stores.

New versions have removed tracks though. For example most digital versions of Vice City you buy these days wont have Michael Jacksons Billie Jean.

Many of the songs are removed from the current versions. Some have been replaced, others have not.

If you want the original soundtrack, you gotta play the OG releases.

They also used some clever tricks to extend your drive time between cities without making you feel like you were driving in circles

Exactly, I used to end up memorizing the gta maps. Nowadays it's impossible in most open world games.

There used to be actual landmarks you could follow to help memorize, now it's just all one giant landmass with nothing in it, with a few exceptions.
