Yeaaa, that isn't even close to the reason you were moderated. Granted, the person who moderated you should have told you the reason in the moderation (even if it is pretty obvious just looking at it), but it certainly wasn't because you said a "harsh truth".

It's the majority of my moderations, which are infrequent.
I'm proud of them, my only regret is they go away eventually. I want to look back on them forever, but the best I can do is to not accept the moderation so it sticks around longer.

Like the time a guy said Germany lost its way after the 1940's and I called him a nazi. He then hurled an anti-Semitic slur at me in a response post. My post was deleted for "insulting another user", neither of his were touched. But I don't regret it one bit, fuck him.

Most recently, a certain braggadocious fellow (likes to point out how rich he is constantly, hint hint) on here was asking about getting a surround sound system for his apartment, with no regard for his neighbors. He went on to say in class Marie Antoinette fashion that if neighbors didn't want to hear noise, they should buy a house.
I basically told him where to shove it. Knew I'd get modded, only regret was the post got taken down within like 4 hours, I was hoping it'd be around longer.

Even when I'm not being harsh about the truth, I get modded because the mod team has some pretty substantial biases and double-standards. For example, the reason why you can get away with Hitler comparisons now is because the mods themselves kept getting busted for making them and they couldn't mod the mods so they relaxed the policy so that it applies to anybody they disagree with them.

No, because they don't generally do that.

They do, however, tend to mod people for saying things they think are true, but in an assholish or confrontational way, which pretty clearly makes them come across more like they're just trying to be a dick than it does an honest statement of fact.

If you find you keep getting modded for saying things, you might want to reevaluate yourself and how you present your opinions. Maybe, just maybe, you're being a lot more abrasive than you need to be and are pissing people off enough to keep marking your posts to retaliate.

To be fair, if the mods see it in the mod queue at all it means someone else marked it as offensive, which by definition kind of means it might be offensive, because it apparently offended someone enough to mark you for it.

The real dispute is whether or not a reasonable person should find something offensive, but considering how subjective that is, the fact that you don't personally find it offensive doesn't mean that it isn't, or can't be, or even that you're presenting it in a way that makes it offensive when it otherwise might not be.

But again, the thing people here never seem to understand (especially the trolliest posters who are always complaining about how persecuted they are) is that HOW you say something is just as important as WHAT you say. When someone comes across like an insulting abusive asshole, people are going to treat them like an insulting abusive asshole, and they probably shouldn't be surprised when they get modded.

Present your opinions in a less confrontational, less acerbic way, and you'll be amazed to discover you stop getting modded as much.

Also, it helps a lot to avoid the sort of boards where rampant shit-slinging is commonplace (ie, never, ever go to the Politics board). But that's a truism on pretty much every site on the Internet, honestly.

If you are getting moderated for Offensive it isn't that your opinion is necessarily offensive, it is how you are saying it that is. Best current example is the BLM protests, no matter what side of the fence you are on if you state your opinion in a non-confrontational way, you will be fine. If you start throwing around insults, saying something racists, using stereotypes, or just generally trying to piss people off, then you will be moderated.

Hence why I said the person who moderated you should have given an explanation to you, because in these cases we are supposed to explain exactly why what someone said is Offensive/Abusive because that can be largely objective but still not appropriate for a public forum.

Were not supposed to moderate using our personal biases, and if someone was theyd be thrown off the team pretty quickly.

Ive certainly moderated plenty of people who I agree with, just because they felt the need to heap abuse on someone else or phrase their comment in a way designed to get a rise out of other users.

the boards are afoul with abusive rightwing users, using the block feature to spread fake news and avoid being reported altogether. and, will this loophole, ever see a fix, or is that low on a list of priorities?

or, were you unaware that blocking a user, blocks them from reporting the user's inappropriate posts? it feels there's a lot of loopholes that weren't thought of.

Being offended is not reasonable. In most cases I think someone simply disagrees but can't make a rational argument why. So they want a comment removed on emotional grounds.

This is equally as subjective. Suppose you post something that is meant to be sarcastic and 2 people mark it as offensive. One person got the joke and was offended that you were making light of a serious subject. The other didn't get the joke and took the comment seriously.

Somehow those similar words don't seem forthright to me. I prefer to be direct with people. I prefer people to be direct with me. I find this limits misunderstanding. However, as previously stated, I don't think a better understanding is the goal in these moderations.

The one time I did get an explanation I don't think they even read my post and the explanation didn't fit with the rule sited. The rest of the time they just site the rule and leave me to guess which sentence applies. So in my dispute I go through point by point. I didn't link anything. There are no images. It's not pornographic. I didn't threaten or even direct the comment at anyone. I'm not promoting a hate group, quite the opposite in fact.

And this is why no one believes anyone when they try to tell a sob story about being modded.

I get a bit salty over my silly moderations but I learned a long time ago not to complain.
