Nothing beats the iphone

  • best camera
  • user friendly/idiot-proof
  • dont need extra gimmicks / apps to make it run. Just take it out of the box and its ready to go
  • eco system continuity that is way ahead of the competition
  • iMessage runs the text message world and google cant seem to catch up
  • longevity and cant sell it at a high price compared to Samsung / any other android phones
  • simply the best .

I wouldn't pay 1k for something Im gonna use to listen to music on once in awhile and text on. I'd say it all matters how practical it is for your use. I like Androids because they don't force me to pay top price for stuff I wouldn't use. I can get whatever price range does the things I need. I can pay $200 for something Id use the same way anyway.

That sounds like it's worth an extra $500 in your pocket after it's all saud and done. If you told me to look it up and customize your phone to your likings for $500, I'll take that job.

I got a 128GB iPhone SE 2020 a week ago, and its the best phone Ive ever used. Its super fast and works beautifully with my iPad (soon to be replaced with an M1 MacBook Air) and Apple TV. I love Touch ID. Much better than the touch sensors on any of the Android phones Ive used. And I got it for a really good price. $100 plus $60 for 2 months of phone service. And Im coming from a Galaxy S8+, so its not like Im comparing it to a $50 Android phone on Wish.com.

Every year is basically Apple playing catchup to whatever flagship Android devices have had for quite sometime. Even then, they still miss the mark such as a lack of high refresh displays, periscope telephoto cameras, or even reverse wireless charging. On the software front, iOS is just now getting half-baked widgets and the ability to change up some default apps. Doesn't sound like the GOAT to me.

On the subject of cameras, Apple has to mislead about the 12 Pro Max's prowess by saying it has a 5x optical zoom "range" (i.e., they're starting the count from the ultrawide 0.5x camera instead of the main 1x lens that everyone else does). In reality, it only has 2.5x optical zoom (65 mm I think). Meantime, companies like Samsung and Huawei are playing with 5x and even 10x optical zoom. You can literally get a decent shot of the moon with those things.

When is Apple getting periscope lenses? Some folks are saying maybe in 2022.

I know a lot about phones, but I still switched to iPhone. As fun as tinkering with electronics is, I found myself rarely ever using the changes in my daily life when I had an Android phone. I bought the S8+ thinking I would be running emulators and that, but then I would do it once and never again. I mostly just use my phone for calls, messaging, taking pictures, and dicking around on the internet like 99% of people do. And I find that iPhones do those things in a cleaner, more responsive manner than Android.

I'm a huge Android user, and I will agree with lots of things in the OP.

Android has come to annoy me a lot with A LOT of bad decisions. One recent one I'm facing which pisses me off is that more freedom isn't necessarily good with third parties because it allows them to pull BS.

Sony is doing this right now. Android's controller API allows companies to limit which controller their app can use. Which means Sony's Remote Play app forces the DS4. Which means my Razer Kishi doesn't work with it.

Apple doesn't allow you to do that. It's all or nothing. Which means the Razer Kishi works fine on iOS Remote Play.

Just a minor example of the many annoyances.

I have almost the entire library of N64/PS1/GBA/SNES/DS/NES/GC and some 3DS games on my droid phone. I stream it to my tv while using a Xbone/Dualshock4 controller or just play them from my phone. I can even open all of those apps at once and my phone won't lag at all while switching between them. I don't think the iphone will be able to do any of this in the next 5 years even.

Slow down there partner. You still can't do splitscreen multitasking on an iPhone in 2020. By the time iPhones can do those things above, Barron Trump will be able to run for president.

The iPhone got Dualshock 4 and Xbox controller support 2 years before Android did. And the support that Android has, is limited to Android 10 and above. People are still waiting for Android 10 on some of their phones. Even if you get a third party controller, they didn't or just outright don't work with official apps.

There are a lot of issues on Android. Even more for someone who actually takes full advantage of the system. Most people who say Android is so much better aren't doing much with it and pointing out shit most people don't really care about nowadays like the camera.

Not to mention that Apple has the most powerful phone out period for $400 right now. The next comparison is the Pixel 4A, which is using hardware from the Pixel 1-2.
