Do you think this is disgusting propaganda by the NRA?

4 y/o Michael DeCarlo, a little boy who went viral after sobbing uncontrollably by a Santa in Illinois who said he couldn't have a Nerf Gun for Christmas has been gifted by a Nerf Gun by the NRA..as well as a LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP to the organization!!

The Trailer Trash organization "came to the rescue" to the boy who received outpouring support and one of its members came by dressed as santa to give the boy a nerf gun that has divided social media

People branded it "wrong" and "propaganda" as they accuse the organization of the using the company to push its agenda

In the clip that went viral, the boy was telling the camera "Mean Santa didn't want to give me a Nerf gun for Christmas" and then shows the NRA's Santa arriving at the home with a sack filled with toy guns and is greeted by Michael who is wearing full CAMO with a big hug as he is given a chance to open the multitude of nra branded gifts

He even got a mini NRA vest with a patch that says "lifetime member"

Michael then challenges Santa to a nerf war and then says "Mean Santa won't be happy i have this"

Santa then leaves the property and says "The North Pole doesn't need any commies"

Sabella and Michael sat down with the NRA who thanked the "hundreds" of peple who reached out to her son after the "woke" Santa said no

She said "Santa's job is to make kids believe in the magic of Christmas, not lecture us on politics. I'm so grateful for the NRA who made her son's dream come true. Americans of all backgrounds come together and rallied for my son".

His father, is no surprise a police officer and lifetime member of the NRA himself who praised the group and said "Fellow patriots, thank you for all that you do to protect our rights, and supports us police officers. And NRA, thank you for making my family's Christmas one we will never forget. My son will be holding one of these real babies when he's ready"

Social media was quick to react calling it creepy as others called it "inspirational" as many said this was a ploy to push the NRA's message

Do you think this is disgusting?

I have no idea what the policies are for these Santa Claus workers. I would imagine there is only so much they can say even if it is all fake. Granted I assume there are protocols for certain questions (i.e. kid asking for an organ donor for his younger sister)

From a parent's perspective, would they be okay with a stranger telling their kids they will get X for Christmas and now the parents are either stuck adhering to that or disappointing their kids? Or maybe use it as an opportunity to tell their kid they did not get X for Christmas because they did not behave.....

Santas give out free gifts. Sounds like entitlement here. If the kid wanted one that bad then his parents would buy him one for Christmas anyway. That's if they allowed it obviously. I was always told these "santas" are not the real ones but are helping out the real one.

She said "Santa's job is to make kids believe in the magic of Christmas, not lecture us on politics. I'm so grateful for the NRA who made her son's dream come true. Americans of all backgrounds come together and rallied for my son".

Yeah because she couldn't just buy him one anyway right? Also Santas jobs are not to pay for your kids wants at Christmas. That's on the parents. Eh at least she got more freebies though. Well done at teaching her kid values.

Varies by the gun, just like how some Lego sets can be $100's and some of them can be as cheap as $10 or less. So unless the kid was demanding the $100+ Amazon exclusive Elite Rhino Fire blaster price shouldn't have been the end all be all.

I disagree with withholding a nerf gun from a kid cause it isnt bad but I can also see a reasonable rationale for a family that lives in a place where and intends to train their kid to shoot at some point in the near future (when they are older but still a kid).

i can see a family that owns and does target shooting or hunting and wants to train thier kid to do the same would not want to trivialize a firearm even with something as non harmful as nerf because they want to drill home the seriousness and respect one should have for a firearm and not have to deal with any left over I shot you games from the guns are a toy days.

idk- Im not saying thats the case here but I see a lot of possible things at work here too.

generally I dont see an issue w nerf anything, except I can also see scenarios that make sense not to.

If you can show me where in his job description it says "say yes to everything they ask for," you might have a point. Presumably, it actually says something much more vague, like "make children happy," which everyone recognizes is impossible to do all of the time and therefore it is not justified to fire somebody for failing to do so one time.
